Does Sergey Kovalev really enjoy hurting people so much or is it a marketing ploy?

Marketing. He carried Hopkins 12 rounds when he could've easily knocked him out and pulled most of his punches throughout the fight. Hopkins did really **** Kovalev off in the last seconds of the 12th round by taunting him though. He didn't show Pascal the same mercy, but Pascal did kind of ask for it.

 

Sergey is definitely a dude that enjoys hurting people.

 

Kovalev is genuine. He's a bad man in the ring. I'm sure in his youth he was doing all sorts of nasty stuff. He is one of those guys that boxing saves from getting put in prison or getting killed on the streets. HBO just took advantage of this situation and now Sergey is marketed like the second coming of Drago.

But I dont think his rage will help in the ring against Ward. On the contrary. If he doesnt KO SOG early he'll gass out even faster this time. If he doesnt manage to control his rage it will deplete him of energy.

 

Sergey is a ****ing drunk that's for sure. Is he an angry drunk or a friendly drunk is all I want to know.
He was poor like 85% of non oligarchy Russia and now he is rich after coming to America. He doesn't have the killer instinct anymore, right now it's just to sell his image.

If he liked fighting or loved Russia he could have went home long ago. He should drop that flag and raise the one that made him who he is today.

Nah.. America sucks lol. Most of the people there never own a passport and never travel more than 50km out of their hometown. Most people from other countries are more open minded and knowledgable on most issues. Even standard of living and welfare are not better than most European countries and Australia.

The welfare system is great here, in fact we have more immigrants and citizens on welfare than any other country. And don't forget about the middle of the country that have zero industry left. How do you think they live out in Montana and the Dakota's? WELFARE buddy. LOL!!
I do agree with you, people here don't travel a lot and it affects their world view because they let TV tell them everything. That's why when I retire, I'm moving to Mozambique. I have certain neighbors that have a certain ideology that some posters on this site would love. They don't like that we live on the same level.

in 2011, Sergey fought Roman Simakov, whom he beat by ref stoppage. Simakov collapsed a few minutes later and was taken by stretcher to hospital where he died three days later.

Kovalev has, in my view, handled this situation with as much compassion and honor as possible; he apologised to the figher's parents, he has paid for the expense in connection with their son's funeral including their travel, etc. But those small details don't begin to tell the full story.
