How much different would the May-Pac fight be if it were 2009 opposed to 2015?

Yup. I find it laughable how both sides think the other destroys the other in a prime fight. Prime for prime this fight is a toss up.

 

Not really. Someone can be for 'PED' or banned supplements being used outside of the sport in a non-competitive environment but against their use in competition. That in no way makes you a hypocrite. Hypocrisy would be criticizing steroid use in a competitive environment while you yourself were using to gain a boost in competition. This isn't rocket science man.

 

It would've played out the same way. I never thought Pac had a chance. This was always a 9-3, 10-2 type of fight in favor of Mayweather.

 

The difference back then is that Manny was hurting everyone not just winning.

Im not sure Floyd had the fire power to keep him off.

Look at 2015 , Floyd was rocked to his boots in the 4th from an arm punch.

 

floyd was a master at avoiding your first, your second, and sometimes your third punch, but then he loses rhythm and starts to mug pretending the shots now getting through arent hurting him. castillo and maidana followed up with 3rd, 4th, and 5th punches and those were the ones that were scoring. prime manny was a whirlwind of punch activity and would be chucking leather from all angles at a high frequency.

 

They've been saying "Floyd don't have the power to keep them off" since De La Hoya..lol It's obvious his clean punches to the face is enough because no one really just walked through them.. Maidanna smothered both of their punches, but was still getting hit cleanly but Floyd couldn't dodge every punch like usual so he looked "bad".. Even though a lot of those punches that landed wasn't scoring punches...

 

The biggest difference (would've mattered to all involved) would be around 2mil.
Instead on 4.6m ppv they'd be looking at 2.6m very best case scenario

As proven, Mayweather a black American Olympian who is worth untold amounts to the TV networks, Casinos, hotels etc who completely caught red handed ignoring regulations while denying a bloated Filipino Christian a legal pain killer was never going to lose a decision, it's remarkable the vastly smaller haggard Filipino won 3 rounds on the cards ( clearly he won at anywhere from 5-8 rounds if you score objectively)

What impressed me the most was the tiny Fillipino made the vastly larger black American change his game plan, Mayweather spoke for ages about how badly he wanted to KO Pacquaio, how he trained differently and how he wanted it so bad that he would walk him down and just finish him to remove all doubt. Soon as he ate a straight left he was badly hurt and his plan went out the window as he knew if he tried to keep walking him down he was getting KO'ed.

In respect to Mayweather it shows a degree of smarts, a lot of boxers would have felt humiliated being pushed around the ring and their dad telling them they are fighting like a scared *****, a lot would have shown pride and probably got KO'ed, Mayweather did think health first and leave it in the hands of the Vegas judges who have never let him down. Infact he had 2 of his hand picked judges who called in his most controversial fights big in his favour, go look at them, his ever presents part of TMT.

As much as Mayweather can be hated for his lack of offensive boxing ability, he really is a great businessman, down to the timing of his fights, his networking and his ability to ensure even when he loses in the ring, it is marked as a win.

In my opinion the closest thing to a prime vs prime fight on an even playing field would have been at a 144lb catchweight after Pac beat Cotto and Mayweather beat Marquez, in Spring of 2010.

 

Exactly. Individual rounds might have been slightly more competitive perhaps, but at any point in their careers, the outcome would have been the same - Mayweather wide UD

 

Exact same result. Manny just didn't have the skills or style to beat Floyd.

 

One thing people sort of underestimate is how much a 2009 Floyd is better than a 2015 Floyd too.
