Canelo too small for 160!!?? I had heard that crack is a hell of a drug... He dont have an option here. He is fighting at med , what, for almost 2 years? Believe me, weight is not the problem.
While I think there are some matchups that will test Canelo he should do fairly good at the weight, his biggest test in my estimation would be GGG and Charlo neither are as tested as Alvarez and could be argued neither are as overall skilled either. Alvarez is more than capably of beating GGG next while I won't go into a detailed breakdown I pick Canelo to come out on top there. Charlo is dangerous because of size but Charlos biggest win was arguably losing to a fading Trout, people harp on Canelo-Trout yet he beat a prime Austin more convincingly than JC skillwise Alvarez is better. Outside of that you have a bunch of guys whose beaten nobody and/or never won anything Lemuiex would be a fun watch before he got stopped, Jacobs could be interesting but Alvarez is faster than GGG and would land more shots, Saunders is a joke so who should Alvarez really be afraid of or not be a solid pick in the fight
Hagler was 5`9. I think Canelo will be better at MW in a year than he is now. I think he`ll be good at mw and beat some of these guys. He wont dominate and will lose some fights. Sept. will tell us a lot about his future.
He's a modern 160'er with his size, and everyone knows his "I'm not a middleweight" thing was bull, because he had all kinds of problems making the lower 154 weightclass and so he just didn't with one exception (without testing though). I think he will do fine at the weight, but he probably will never be the top dog as he has to fight at the full 160. Then he's losing his size advantage against other good fighters who probably outreach his as well, and he will have a problem.
