Is there some fighter threatening withdrawal if Usyk is included. B/C Bute, was signed onto Showtime for the S6 before the tournament began, but b/c he had a legal obligation to HBO to rematch Andrade. After the rematch, Showtime signed him during the first rd of the tournament, and Bute was being agreed upon by the other promoters. All except on Dan Goosen. His fight, who shall remain nameless, used the language of the contract, to exercise his right to withdrawal from the tournament if he the original 6 entrants did not agree. So....the LONE HOLDOUT......made the threat to walk, and signed off immediately on Allan Green.
Yeah, with Richard Schaefer's connections this will most likely be airing on Showtime in the US, and appeal to Haymon boxers. That means indirectly boxers and promoters who are close with HBO will be less inclined to take part in the tournament. I don't think Usyk has a contract with HBO, but his team's plan is obviously to fight on HBO. It looks horrible on HBO and any promoters if they aren't willing to compromise and work with other promoters as part of the tournament, with the big money involved.
Bute was still a good fighter at the time of the super six tournament, but SOB would not allow him to fight in his personal tournament, even with his personal judges, referee, boxing commission, etc. Usyk is the best cruiser weight in the world today, without him the tournament does not prove much.............
Much more? IDK about that... Though assuming Gassiev or Breidis wins(which is very likely the case unless something truly unexpected happens) the winner will have a slight resume boost over Usyk due to the win over the other. But that could all change in 1 fight assuming Usyk fights the winner. Slightly disappointed that Usyk isn't going to be involved with this tournament, but it might not be the poorest of strategies for him to avoid this and face the winner.
Little disappointing if he is not in it. It's a good division and this will enhance several participants standings in the game today
I think it's a poor decision, much more is a little harsh but his management needs to step up and get him elite opponents. I mean the best guy available for him to fight in August is Arslan or Kucher, think about it, extremely disappointing.
thanks for the history, but the fact of the matter is all those fighters from the soviet union never got a chance to re-math with the hall of famers in the pros because of the left wing communists. The best fighter of the 4 who lost was the pole, and his fight with ali was very, very, close.
