Since Briggs got popped dirty, the WBA has yet to resolve what will happen to the WBA heavyweight regular belt. Does Oquendo still get his shot? or the WBA orders two other fighters for a WBA regular title shot.

So who's it going to be?

Why the **** did they even get Briggs involved? Was someone paid off?
Just order Oquendo vs Joshua and be done with it.

Hopefully no one. It's a belt that should of long ago been retired. That's one of the major problems with boxing. Too many belts.

I remember when the WBA stated they would get rid of the interim and regular belts... everyone was hopeful but sceptical back then if it would happen.
Now we've seen multiple fights for "vacant" second and third rated WBA belts since the "cleanup" started.

I want it to have as many delays as possible, just for the absurdity of the situation. August 2019... Oquendo, out of the ring for 5 years and counting, at age 46, against TBA for the vacant interim or regular WBA heavyweight belt.

I would not be surprised if the WBA will order Oquendo vs Ustinov for the belt.

I really dont understand how the ranking works for this belt every name you hear, should be no where near fighting for even a second rate world title.

I dont understand why they dont let Ortiz fight for it since he is the second highest rated in the WBA him vs Ustinov

Also, how the hell has BJ Flores got into the top 10 WBA

Quendo's contention is by court order, due to a major screwup from both the WBA and team Chagaev.
First Chagaev wanted a very easy defence for his regular belt, and they came up with the old and past it Oquendo via "magic" WBA rating.
That actually became a cherrypick go wrong, although the judges blatantly bailed Chag out. Then team Chagaev promised Oquendo a rematch and a $1.000.000 payday. That was fools gold of course, and they had no intention to follow trough.
Then Oquendo went to court and they ordered he would get the titleshot as promised, and the WBA should make that happen.
Team Chagaev didn't "recognize" the US court order as legit (figures), and they went on like nothing happened, getting upset by Browne much later.

But, in the meantime WBA had promised multiple guys to get shots at the titles, with the Ortiz, Browne and now Briggs failed drug tests inbetween, the Fury clusterf**k, and unification fights to cope with. All in all virtually impossible to manage.
That's why I believe the WBA is thinking about using VADA, like the WBC did. It would eliminate a lot of issues they have now, just because they have a lot of old blatant users in their ranks they need to get rid off without being dragged to court.

Ugggh, please no. That would only stand in the way of much better fights for Joshua and it wouldn't make sense for him to have two separate mandatory orders from one sanctioning body. The sensible fight would be Ortiz/Oquendo. If you're gonna have a stupid "regular" belt then at least let your #1 ranked contender fight for it.

Sooner this gets worked out the better. Then get Ustinov vs Ortiz ... the winner takes on Joshua some time in the second half of 2018.

Ustinov vs Oquendo i'd imagine. Crazy how Oquendo is fighting for a title in 2017/18
