The first first was extremely close and competitive throughout the entire fight. My prediction is the winner of the rematch will be the one who is able to make the most adjustments and i feel ward is that guy. People forget that the first fight fight was wards first world level fight he had had for around 4 years, That's a hell of a long time without fighting a world class opponent, let alone to move up in weight and fight the best in that division and have such a close fight after after such inactivity at world level. Tune up fights against bums do not prepare you for world level. You can't just have one world level fight in 4 years while at the same time moving up in weight and not have some level of ring rust at that level. This is why i believe ward will make the most adjustments, He will have shaken off a lot of ring rust having mixed it up at the elite level and will go into the rematch having shaken off the rust and also having made further adjustments to Kovalevs style.
That's how I saw it too, my confidence in Ward is that I think he's more able to adjust and get those 55-45 rounds more often, or win a few more 60/40 & 70/30 rounds. His style is more malleable as he can fight at more ranges than Kovalev, and sets up his shots with more long-term deception. So I'm more confident about that kind of victor. Not by much, I wouldn't be surprised by a Kovalev win. But Ward is just a little smarter. I don't see him getting dropped again.
I say its 50/50 I do know Kovalev will come for the kill since he is still butthurt about the last decision and that could be his downfall... However I still give him a very decent chance to win and even KO Ward.. Well see... Kova is the stronger man I just think Ward is crafty and awkward aas hell.. Reminds me of Hopkins and the refs let him get away with a bunch of crap. But no disrespect to either man. Both are great figthers.
For the record I had Kova winning the 1st fight 114-113. However in a rematch I would have to go with the more cerebral and technical boxer, with the better ability to adapt, and that's Ward. Ward UD12.
I want Kovalev to win. Having said that, I picked Ward to win the first fight by a close decision-and he got the decision. But I'd been wrong- once I saw the fight- Kovalev had won- and to me, really clearly. Had I bet on it I would have won money, which... I guarantee you... I would have given away- not liking the grimy feel of it... I have always been a big fan of Ward and how great a fighter he is. And he may be even better now. Since the first fight, though, I have realized something distressing. I do not much like Andre Ward any more. I am a bigger fan of Kovalev's. I thought about it the other day and found that I could imagine Kovalev working countless hours to teach kids boxing in a gym or on a dirty street, but really could not imagine Ward doing that. I could see Kovalev- if fairly beaten- giving all the credit to the other guy, but I couldn't see Ward doing that. Ever. I could see Kovalev having trouble with the phrase "prima donna," and Ward's picture next to it in a dictionary. I like Kovalev better as a human- those are the people I wish the best for. I want to see this guy enjoy America and see him continuing to show up at other fights as an ambassador of the sport. He does not act as though he's better than a boxer. He's a good example of one. Prediction: If I were betting on this fight, I'd take Ward by decision and if there are ridiculous odds against a Ward KD or KO victory, I'd place a small amount there. IMO Ward is a smarter fighter and was doing better as the first fight progressed. Probably more important, I think he is winning the psychological game and is in Kovalev's head. If Kovalev does not really pace himself and fight patiently, I think Ward could tear him up like he did Kessler. I really hope my prediction is wrong, but I don't think so.
You okay with Kovalev using racial slurs? I see the two of them just the opposite of you but am not personally attached to either one of them. I could see Ward teaching boxing to kids in the inner city but not Kovalev. Kovalev has shown himself to be a poor sport in the aftermath of the first fight. Kovalev believes he won and Ward believes he won. I think Ward would have been more gracious in losing than Kovalev has but that's just my opinion.
Ward & Hunter KNOW they lost. They KNOW Sergey was robbed. Were they gracious ??? WAR KOVALEV !!!!!!!
You know damn well santa is only going to bring you a hot lump of turd for Todd in that stocking. You've been a bad little ******* living off that government handout. Lol Kovalev's got game changing power he needs to let the KO come to him and not force the issue. As biased and stubborn as you are I'm sure you have enough brain power to realize Ward will expect the aggression and have a well thought out rebuttal for it.
No gubment handout here Craper. And I was talking about EFFECTIVE AGGRESSION when saying Sergey will unload after hurting Ward. Where did I say he should just close his eyes and swing with everything he's got. And I'm thinking Ward kind of expected aggression in the first fight. Lol! Did that stop the dork from getting staggered by a jab and dropped in the 2nd?? Ward can expect it all he wants! But when he gets hurt again... it won't matter.
