If they were the same size then how was Ward fighting at 168 for most of his career and not end up drained? I'm just not getting the logic here because he kept making 168 pounds. It's not like he wasn't making 168 pounds. You saw it man.

Ward himself has said he's never going to 168 again and he's struggling to make 175, right before the Brand fight.

Ward could make 168, Kovalev well I don't know but both fought as amateur LH's and Ward had 3 fights at 175.....hes a fully fledged 175 fighter.

People are talking like he just popped up to 175 for 1 fight.

yes indeed, you whupped yourself again Josey.

yeah and a corner shop qualifies as a little business, so I'm spot on with what I said.

    NOW -

Americans are so spoiled with fighters it's unbelivable. If my country had a fighter like Ward we treasure him as a national hero.

I think he is probably sometimes overrated by some, but at the same time, I think he tends to be underrated more often by others.

Ward is rated exactly where he is. Current top 3-5 p4p and future HOFer.

Agreed. I do not think he is overrated at all, as far as fighting on the inside goes he has no peer and I think what he does in the manner, that he does it is elite. However it does not make for good viewing. I would love to see how he went about it if the ref was less forgiving of his tactics, letting the infighting happen but not the excessive tying up of his opponent and force a bit more of the outside work. His jab is close the best I have seen but he uses it primary as a way to get inside instead of setting up power shots.

Ward is a limited fighter who makes the most of his gifts.

    His limitations inlcude

    - Lack of punching power
    - Relatively short reach
    - Not the greatest chin

So, his mauling style and desire to avoid exchanges are products of him working within his limits.

Essentially, he has to fight as he does in order to be successful.

Ward reminds me of Rafa Nadal in tennis. Nadal is a grinder. He has to play the way that he does. And this is how Ward is as a fighter.

Still, he's been very successful working within his limits. But if you put him in with someone who can get him beyond those limits, he can't win. For example, he's not beating Calzaghe. He doesn't have the tool kit for that.

Danmed right SOB is overrated, he cheats, owns the judges, referee, boxing commission, etc., he does not have to fight to win a decision, all he has to do is survive..................even Mayweather had SOB losing to Kovalev....................Harold Lederman had Kovalev winning 116 - 111....................SOB hardly deserved 3 rounds, not even 4......................he has the best head butts in boxing, elbows, punches to the testicles, holds only to Kovalev's leg, refused to have neutral judges because it would be unfair to him, proves that SOB thinks he should be allowed to cheat at will..............

it weren't a flash knocked down. He was shook to his boots. How does a knockdown make the score look closer than it was ? its 1 point deduction. It starts and finishes with the 1 point deduction

exactly, kovalev gained 2 points on ward in that knockdown, and kovalev only connected with the palm of his glove and ward also tripped over his feet, he looked completely fine moments after the knockdown.
