Please don't try to pretend that Rigo did not duck Lomachenko.

Arum didn't want anything to do with Rigo.
Whether Rigo was right to or wrong to want more money is another matter, but he eventually agreed to 126 with no rehydration limit and IMO Arum played a fast one by lowballing him and moving Loma up to 130

Both fighters were offered the same money. Why did Rigo turn it down?

Size difference here is going to be considerable. Several inches in height.

Enough to nullify the obvious skills gap?

I think that was a turning point in Rigo's career. The opportunity was there (especially over the second half of the fight) to pepper Agbeko with shots and entertain the crowd a little while winning. Instead, he scored the most cautious shut-out I've ever seen and HBO actually lost a huge number of viewers over the course of it. People turned off because it was so boring.

At this point, winning isn't enough. Rigo needs to put it on his opponents when they're outclassed and go for a stoppage. In every fight.

You're not going to fundamentally change the boxing of someone who's been doing things one way non-stop for probably at least 25 years now, irregardless of what the fan does or doesn't want.

The Rigo we have is the Rigo we're going to get. His fights can be exciting but the other guy needs to push the issue.

I'm curious to see how Rigo holds Flores off at his age and with having almost a year off. I'm also excited for Cedric Agnew vs Dmitry Bivol. This is a pretty darn good card!

Flores at 5'9 will probably have at least 10 pounds on Rigs in the ring. The extra weight may help keep him upright. If Flores trainers are worth a damn, they'd have that right hand glued to the side of his face all night, and make Rigs beat him with something else.

I agree - but he has to realise that he's not going to get any big fights or pay-days any time soon.

I think he's been guilty of coasting even when the other guy does push the issue. He could have lit up Agbeko if he really wanted to but he was happy to coast. He'll keep his 0 fighting like that but won't make much money.

Browsed a couple of Flores' fights. Not bad, clearly more capable than Amagasa, and Marroquin. At least on Cordoba's level although he seems a little stiffer than Cordoba, but looks like he throws with more power. Rigondeaux can't get lazy in there. Still Flores is more flat footed and slower than Donaire. Unless Rigs' 36 Cuban years of age, turn into 47 years of age, he should dismantle this guy.

I just browsed a couple of his fights. I think it looks like he punches harder than he does. Just looking at him punch, it seems like he should have more than 17 KO's in 25 fights. Also just saw Russell Jr stop Escandon inside the distance. I don't think Rigs has much to worry about if Escandon is going the distance with Flores. If Flores chin is indeed solid, he's a prime candidate for the pumpkin face.

Rigs was right to want more than four or five hundred thousand to face Lomachenko. You can't fault him for that. Loma's manager even stated that everything was agreed upon as far as weight. Arum was the hold up. He low balled Rigs with a no more than half a mil offer. He didn't want another star derailed by Rigs.

Many time talking about this issue rehydration is the problem how high Loma must weight fight night. Loma's team did not want any clause. Wasting your time talking about this fight the ship sailed long time ago.

It's funny how Loma fans lie to try and put it on Rigondeaux. Lomachenko and his manager are on the record stating that the weight and everything was agreed to, and Rigs was only offered like four or five hundred thousand, so the fight didn't come off. It was Arum blocking it. He low balled Rigs, and then claimed Rigs asking for more than 500,000 was pricing himself out. Rigs deserved to be offered probably at least a little more than he got for Donaire.
