Not Vitali for me. Lewis was nowhere near to prime but took his best shots and landed some huge ones. Also feel he was the better boxer. Just my opinion.
Foreman and Ali. I just don't think Lewis his chin would holp up against Foremans early onslaught. Ali before his layof would outpoint him, but it wouldnt be easy.
An earlier version of Lewis vs Vitali would be a very one-sided affair. They are just two different levels of fighter. If the oldest, fattest version of Lewis was able to break Vitali's face into a multiple pieces then just imagine what a younger, fresher and motivated version of Lewis would do.
Another vote for Vitali. If Lewis had rematched him there wouldn't have been a need for a decider, the outcome would have been obvious.
Exactly this. I still remember the mental snapshot of Lewis looking up while sitting in his stool, exhausted, while Vitali was raging about the fight being stopped. Last I remember that look was when a classmate was being shoved around by one of the class bullies.
No one in a trilogy ! I think Lewis would've obliterated the majority of most peoples top 10 of all time also
Broke his face into multiple pieces? This wasn't a PAC/Margarito drubbing. This was a cut from a good punch that didn't even hurt him. Lewis will have to live with people questioning whether he could have actually beat VitKlit because he retired instead of eliminating doubt. I personally think had the fight continued, Lewis would have lost.
If only Mr I couldnt hurt china chinned Golota, or tiny evander and trashed my title to avoid Lennox Lewis shared your belief.
I'm a big Vitali fan. but that version wasn't as strong or ring savvy as a few years later imo. Lewis would've beat him imo that night if the fight continued, he was looking stronger. Vitali could've gave him a better fight later in his career though
Ali & Liston would pose him a lot of trouble. Ali for his movement & straight right that would keep Lewis from setting to punch. And Liston for his reach and powerful jab. Also either of the Klitschkos as that's the general consensus so far and I want to be popular.
Lewis wasn't "fat", stop it with the spin. Lewis was if I remember correctly like a fine wine only getting better with age and McCrory and Darke said after Tyson it was the best ever Lewis. What we really saw and had during Lewis's reign was after Holyfield, Vitali was his only true test. Basically Vitali was his first live opponent after Holyfield. Nothing to do with Lewis being old or fat.
