And to answer your question, Armstrong won lineal titles in what present day would fall within.

    Feather
    Super Feather (historic Light Weight)
    Lightweight
    Junior Welter (historic Welter)
    Welter

But would he have won lineal in all of them? Possibly, like Pac he might have skipped one or two on his way up.

Then your entire premise of asking how many Armstrong could have won in modern times can't be done.

If you are only counting official original weight class titles..they are tied at 3.

    Armstong: Feather, Lightweight, Welter.
    Pac: Fly, Feather, Welter.

    That's that.

and your premise of Pac having won four of the original lineal belts is wrong and, with respect to Armstrong, I merely asked how many lineal titles would his three translate to today.

Impossible with catchweights? Almost an oxymoron.

Three is three by your definition.

If you are only counting official original weight class titles..they are tied at 3.

    Armstong: Feather, Lightweight, Welter.
    Pac: Fly, Feather, Welter.

    That's that.

I assume the original question has been answered already, but I'm not going through all six pages when the parts I've already skimmed over look so bad.

    So here's the answer anyway:

It's because they count both Ring/lineal belts and alphabet belts:

Pac starting as a young teenager and cutting weight to a dangerous degree also helped with jumping 6 divisions within 2/3 year span. While most are competing as amateurs pac was fighting pro in a horrific boxing county, padding records is what they were doing

If you don't, he still won 6 titles in 5 divisions...5 lineal titles in 5 divisions. Still more than anyone in history.

And I hope you also discredit Mayweather's lineal win against Canelo.

What wins do you feel were padded?

5 of his 8 title wins were against the lineal Champion of the division. All 5 Champions were pretty fantastic fighters in Sasakul, MAB, Marquez, Hatton, and Bradley.

Among the other three: Cotto, Margarito, and Diaz. Cotto was the highest rated fighter in the division behind lineal Mosley and had a win over Mosley. Margarito was a super fight with size intrigue.

Diaz least regarded guy here but he at least was coming off a win over Morales and was the highest rated actual belt holder at Light Weight despite not being lineal.

I see no instances of padding. I love these broad criticisms that are completely unfounded.

Of course. 152 against a guy that couldn't make 154 is a blatant abuse for the A side dynamic that ruined boxing.
