Yeah, but it looks real going through it. I don't see anything weird so far. It looks pretty genuine.

There is a picture where it says something like "just gave the instructions to Lomachenko" before his fight in November and the picture posted is a screenshot from the Top Rank broadcast. Doesn't seem legit. Could be completely wrong though.

Well, Weeks himself is in the picture. Maybe he wanted a picture that included himself.

    What else could he do?

I'm not saying it's for sure genuine, but that doesn't seem particularly off to me.

Kova's reaction immeadiately after the fight and during the kellerman interview says it all; he wasn't as pissed as one would be if they'd just lost a second "bad" decision to a fighter they hate. He was just standing there with his son.

DESPITE ALL THIS - what a fight

Not yet, but in another moment or two he likely would have been. I would have rather Weeks had waited another moment or two for Kov to either fall down or sit down on the ropes like he did, rather than stop it there. I also would have rather that happened than for him to have paused the fight and deducted a point from Ward or something because I didn't think the low blow was intentional.

Whether or not standing 8 counts are allowed under the rules has no bearing on this. I would have rather Weeks waited another moment or two so he could have started the count when Kov went down or was clearly held up by the ropes.

He saw a fighter who was standing and incapable of defending himself.

That's the ****ing definition of a TKO.

Saying he should wait around in case the fighter eventually goes down is absurd.

The problem was Weeks was incapable of seeing the low blows. The stoppage made sense otherwise.

Chill out my fellow poster, just because you decided to pick apart my post has no bearing on what I was getting at. You acting like you found an error in my post was pointless, stick to the main points and don't sweat the details, that way we don't have to have the thread derailed for you to act like you've won some moral victory lol.

On the verified Al Bernstein twitter account, he stated that the Weeks account/tweet he responded to tonight is actually fake.

It's not absurd at all. Like I said, I was OK with the stoppage, because Kov was in trouble, and it seemed like Ward was about to close the show, but as it turned out it was stopped right after a low blow which obviously is now seen as controversial. I personally didn't think the low blow was intentional or particularly bad so I'm not sure it would have been any less controversial had he penalized Ward there or something. So while I'm OK with the stoppage, had he let it go for a few more moments until a knockdown occurred, or had he gotten in there and warned Ward or something without penalizing him probably either of those scenarios may have been better.

Neither is Tony Weeks, he's a nameless faceless ****ing Boxing referee, not a Kardashian.

You're basically disputing the entire concept of TKOs...

Using this logic, they should never call a TKO. They should always just wait to see if the fighter eventually goes down.

"But they only had to wait a few seconds..."

    They can't predict the future...

Allow me to break this down for ya. I was OK with the stoppage, meaning that I saw that Kov was in trouble, so I'm not sitting here crying about the stoppage. However as many can attest to, the stoppage seemed to be a little premature at the time, and then we confirm that the last punch was a low blow, and some of the ones before were borderline. So I'm taking a look at the end of the fight and trying to determine if Weeks could have done anything different, what could he have done and if he should be blamed. I personally don't blame him for not seeing that low blow or for stopping it right then and there. (for the safety of Kovalev) But as a fan I would have liked to see Kovalev go down, get a 10 count or something rather than have it stopped which led to such controversey.
