As for the topic, according to Kovalev he's just a mitt-man. So I don't see how it's a big deal. But Kova saying that he's only a mitt man isn't the kind of thing that you'd expect to create loyalty, so I'd say it's pretty fair for JDJ to not seem too broken up about the guy losing.

Not if he's on a fight-to-fight basis and doesn't have a solid deal with Kovalev that would guarantee him a certain amount of income for his work -- if I was working for a percentage of an unknown amount (considering Kova had a ZERO dollar guarantee), I'd feel free to explore my options.

 

Yeah, this situation regarding Jackson trying to join Ward's team was disclosed weeks ago during the fight build up. I think most people became aware of it at that point, despite some follow-up interviews done by Jackson/Team Kovalev attempting to disregard it shortly after it leaked.

The fact is, the Kovalev camp definitely appears to be in total disarray. It's time for some 'official' changes to be made:

-The alleged "overtraining" for the first Ward fight...

-The conduct in the corner between rounds in recent fights (this stands out quite profoundly)...

-Jackson flat out stating that "Kovalev only showed up to train with him just two or three weeks before the Isaac Chilemba fight" during in an interview...

^These things are all just further evidence that some renovation is promptly in order.
