It's like these ****ing morons forgot about the low blows prior to that right hand! And do they not think that hitting a cup (even high on it) won't cause it to move and wedge forcefully against someone nads?!
Great point, it's precisely the fact that Kovalev didn't go down that caused Weeks to intervene. You always hear about boxers who aren't used to getting hurt don't usually know when to take a knee. Kovalev was inexperienced in being on rubbery legs like that he didn't know when to go down or he had too much pride to not take a knee. Instead he was just hunched over on his feet not defending himself. Had he gone down when he should of if he was in that much pain he would have gotten a count and possibly had that 10 seconds to recover and reset. He didn't do that, and he stayed on his feet but stayed there in a fetal position which wasn't defending oneself. We all know it's boxing 101 that there are times to take a knee and get a breather. Look at Kell Brook vs Spence. His eye was hurting but he took a knee hoping it would sort itself out if he had a breather. Kovalev should have taken a knee there but he had too much pride and / or wasn't experienced in a situation like that to know what to do. Had he taken a knee he probably could have fought on. But again with all the paranoia about how close the scorecards were from the first fight that contributed to his refusal to go down even when hurt. So he stayed up but in a fetal position which caused the stoppage.
when fighters duck low it's often claimed that it is an excuse to hit them on the top of the head because--what are you gonna do? And it's not an excuse as in a moral justification. It's more of an explanation. How do you hit someone in the body who is hunched over? You have to loop the punch low and come up -- like an uppercut. But the arm is not elastic, so it's a hard punch to land correctly. And why was Kovalev bent over? Because he was in bad shape. And what was Weeks looking at? Kovalev's condition. He was seeing whether Kovalev was defending himself. Because once you stop defending yourself, most refs will call the fight.
Those ones? https://imgur.com/h2vj9Z5 As I said in another post, Kovalev should go to the doctor, I wouldnt like to have my balls into my stomach.
Kovalev was so hurt he cleanly ducked a hook from Ward. Then seconds later Ward landed belt line punches, ( On the belt is low ) and below the belt punches to finish him in a fight that was stopped too quickly. There you have it.
All I know is Ward has a special "Finish him" move from Mortal Kombat no other boxer in the world is allowed. The fact of the matter is he may have been on the way to finishing him off, BUT he hit him in the nuts which is a gdamn foul. Its not that hard to understand is it?
Have you ever worn a cup of any kind?? Do you really not think getting cracked high on a cup by a professional boxer would have any effect on the area it's covering!?? You don't think the cup itself wouldn't be forcefully jammed and wedged against ones balls?? Lol! The last shot ESPECIALLY was low and Sergey deserved a 5 minute recovery and Ward deserved a point taken away. Wasn't Ward already warned early in the fight??? Exactly. I know.. "TKO8 Doe! Deal Wit It"
Yes. It's called Oakland street rules, which are allowed when the pro-Oakland crowd and depends upon a Las Vegas arena with a hands off the referee. As you either know or might have Guessed, Ward is from Oakland
This would be like Federer and Nadal going 5 minutes non-stop in a rally and Nadal gets the upperhand and lobs Federer and the ball is going towards the line but its out!!! Then the ref awards a point to Nadal.
Watch the beginning of the fight again. That part where the referee says "right here is good...". I'll let this guy to explain you. You can watch it several times untill you understand, specially the very beginning when the referee speaks. Take your time, I know you will need it, no problem, just take your time, you will understand after a couple of times. This content is protected Even if you dont agree with the guy talking in the video. You have no choice but to follow referee's order "right here is GOOD".
Sorry, I never knew you had a Masters in Biology, I never knew Ward fans could aspire to reach those dizzy heights.
