Kovalev was knocked down in the amateurs, against Boone and against Caparello. He looked very terrible against Chilemba and couldn't knock out Hopkins, who flew out the ring against Smith Jr.

Kovalev was never a bully, he was never known for being a "machine". It was you guys who made him like that.

He fought decent opponents. Canelo is the first elite fighter he will face and GGG will beat him.

Why didn't he fight an elite fighter before?

    - Martinez retired when GGG called him out
    - Ward decided to commentate GGG's fights on HBO and fight Edwin Rodriguez, because he didn't want to lose against a smaller fighter
    - Froch said: "I would never fight GGG", admitted in an interview he wants to have nothing to do with Gennady
    - Canelo gave his title away without a fight to avoid GGG when he was in his prime, but the fight happens now at least
    - Chavez Jr. declined a high million dollar offer, I made a thread about it once with many sources

    Whom did I forget?

Could have been way, way earlier, in fact, in 2012.

Gold medals give you some hype but at the end of the day you have to prove it at the pro level. Audley Harrison ring a bell?

You do know that a lot of people are convinced that GGG gets hit on purpose?
He obviously does it on occasions but there are plenty of times when his lack of defense is exposed.
And you hit someone enough times, and they will back off.
Jacobs did it and Canelo will do it with his body punching. (Golovkin will go from Mexican Style to jab jab jab)

Save this post- GGG has been starving for an elite fight against an A level fighter. The elite guys have been ducking him for years. Now he's finally getting it. And he will take the frustration of having to wait so long out on Canelo. Bank on it.

LOL outside of his embarrassing loss to Floyd who are the elite fighters that Canelo has faced?

GGG has not evolved as a fighter, Hes has the same one dimensional approach since the begging. Canelo on the other hand has been consistently improving fight to fight, That's what the great ones do.

GGG has knocked out a nothing but a bag of bums no exaggeration, One C level fighter in lemieux, and one b level welterweight who was lighting his ass up and out boxing him until his glass eye collapsed and just about scrapped his way to a decision against Danny Jacobs, If jacobs hadn't of given him so much respect early on he would have cruised to an easy decision.

Canleo is like a version kell brook after eating a super mario mushroom, bigger, stronger, faster, sharper more powerful more skilled and far more durable.

It's amusing the number of times people have said GGG hasn't beaten anyone. Has anyone every beaten GGG? No. So, because no one has been able to beat him that makes his opponents bums? The fact of the matter is, GGG has fought a lot of guys that were thought of as very good fighters prior to losing to him. Once he beats them, though, a lot of these naysayers say these fighters weren't any good. GGG has a way of making a lot of fighters, previously thought to be pretty good, not look so good. It's not because they aren't good fighters. It's just that GGG is that good.

Lol. In all seriousness I spoke with a local boxing promoter (he promotes Rico Ramos) and he picking Canelo. Plenty of others with deep boxing knowledge are giving the edge to Canelo based on youth, speed, skills, and politics.
