This ain't no nationalistic thread, but it's something that I've started to notice.

Floyd ofc sells despite having not too much of a fan friendly style, very controversial out of the ring, was p4p #1 boxer, best fighter in the world so that helped him some.

Broner used to sell pretty well, was very controversial out of the ring, was never a top p4p fighter despite being a 3-4 weight world champion

Very humble, God Fearing, nice guys like Terence Crawford/Andre Ward don't sell too well despite being top p4p fighters

Good fighters like Tim Bradley go unnoticed as well, weird.

On the other hand, most good fighters from the UK sell like crazy. I guess it's because boxing is so much bigger there but still. Top fighters there literally are superstars there. Everyone knows em.

I doubt many would know TC or even Ward if they walked the streets here.

    MVC.........

The reality is their are no big stars in usa Golovkin even though he is not American is bigger then any American fighter there.

Only cotto/canelo are bigger then him

Fans love knockouts and Golovkin gives it to them.

If they love knockouts, they should love TC or Deontay! the guy's been knocking a lot of guys out!

He's also an extremely nice guy, etc

Boxing in America has been dead since Tyson's prime ended. Honestly.
Fights like DLH-Mayweather, Mayweather-Pacquiao are rare exceptions to the rule and an effort to bring back what was once lost, but USA Boxing is dead.
A star like Shakur Stevenson coming along isn't going to change that. A couple of stars in boxing affirm that it's dead enough.

I agree but I think part of the issue with wilder is he is not being promoted well at all he could have so much more fans.........

Come to think of it I honestly can't see a genuine American star at the moment far from it......

I agree and it's a shame. Crawford does good in Nebraska but it has a small population and the state really gets no respect other than Warren Buffett being from there. A good test will be Spence he fights in a "exciting style" and is from a big state Texas. We will see how he develops and how much of draw he will become. I think Mikey Garcia if he beats Broner will become a draw.

Wrong! PBF is back and he's hands down the biggest draw here. Crawford does well in his hometown Broner does well and so does Wilder in his hometown.

I think Keith Thurman is picking up steam. Once Bob Arum makes the passing of the torch match between Pacquiao and Crawford I think you'll see T.C. gain more of a following. The only non-controversial boxers that gain a huge following in the States are guys like Canelo because of our huge Hispanic population.

MVC I hate to break it to you but, Ward and Crawford aren't nice guys, that's clearly a façade.

Porter, Trout, Thurman, Bradley, Jacobs and Cunningham are nice guys.

It's been hard to sell in the US period, as boxing has been a niche sport for awhile.
