Good point actually lol Did Golovkin even say this. The only quote I've seen in this thread doesn't necessarily state he didn't KO him on purpose.

"If I looked beautiful, like after the first knockdown I finished him, probably I don't have right now September 16th." -- GGG

Yeah I do actually, wouldn't you be willing to purposefully look below average against a fighter you like and respect who has a beautiful feel good story behind him, and conveniently do just enough to nick rounds in order to lure in a fighter who's P4P with one of the best resumes in the sport that will bring untold amounts of money, perhaps millions and boost you to mega star status in the minds of casuals? I certainly would.

bingo and this is why i am hesitant to downplay canelos power, cotto, lara, trout, khan and chavez were all on their bikes, shelling up looking not to get knocked out. it is very hard to knock a guy out when they fight in that mode all night, ggg likes to eat punches to give punches but i think he will respect canelo and fight a more disciplined fight.

The CW Jacobs who turned up for the GGG fight would survive in 12rds of action vs any MW in history imo. GGG not knocking him out has not made GGG a bad fighter, nobody in the history of the sport has an KO 100% ratio at the top level so I don't know why people think GGG has turned bad overnight.

Like Hagler has a draw with Antuofermo, was he shot during their bout? No.

Title says "know", I'm assuming you meant "NOW"... but no, he said it directly in the post fight interview with Max in the ring.. it's not something new he is just now saying. He said he didn't want to destroy Jacobs because he was his favorite fighter. I actually believe GGG felt sorry for Jacobs concerning his past battles with Cancer and didn't want to cause him any undue damage.

I have GGG as my no 1 p4p list and saw the fight as simply Jacobs had too much speed, reach and a decent jab to keep GGG off him. GGG never walked through him because Jacobs was just too fast. No excuses, Jacobs just had too much speed to keep it at range and pick up some rounds. He still lost. I had him winning the fight, but because he missed the weigh-in and come in with that huge weight advantage when the scorecards were read I'm perfectly fine with the outcome.

GGG defeated a man who defeated Cancer. I shudder to think what over 100 of GGG's Asian Chi-Force/Russian Bear Nuclear Power jabs would do to Cancer.

Not surprising that a Triple God could beat Cancer. If Golovkin had cancer not only would he survive, but the cancer will do as Golovkin wishes, such as forcing the cancer to increase Golovkins knuckle sizes and enlarge his heart for more endurance.

Obviously he didn't knockout Jacobs to lure Canelo into the fight and it worked

 Maybe that's why he's contemplating retirement, because it's time for Triple God to do God's work and rid the world of all it's ills? :buitre:

I don't buy into bull****. There's been excuses from Team G as far back as shot Ouma who was punchy when he fought Jermain Taylor. He supposedly had the flu and all this other ****. He lets guys hit him. Now he's implying he didn't look as good against DJ on purpose. Same stuff. It's going to be a close fight. Dude went 11 rounds with MM for the first time of his career. There's measuring sticks on him if people want to pay attention and lay off the sauce.
