UFC took over. Americans love weird sports like basketball, baseball etc. When boxing died, people switched to the UFC and it became huge because Americans love violence and MMA gives them the impression of being a violent spot, even thogh it's much, much safer than boxing.

Boxing might never recover due to poor managment and marketing. Boxing in the US needs to be reformed, they need a Dana White guy. I am pretty sure Eddie Hearn or Bernd Bönte would be able to change something if they get the chance.

It's been like that since forever for almost anything in the US.
From sports to politics to celebrity to anything.
    Nothing new.

I agree but its because ward is boring.

Roy Jones, De La hoya, Tyson, Mayweather, Mosley, were all pretty big stars. Its because they were exciting.

Crawford is somewhat exciting, he is much more exciting then Ward, same with Spence. I feel Spence and Crawford can become stars if they keep winning and of course getting KO's which they do.

The difference IMO between a Broner and Mayweather is as you said one of them is P4P and the other is not so Broner is not really held in that high regard. I think you need a combination of success and being held in high regard , a bit of controversy and charisma. Floyd had all three, GGG and Canelo seem to have all three , Ward and Crawford have 2 but both lack any form of charisma.

Well the majority of people don't like goons with a criminal history that also do goofy ass dances after knocking out subpar opposition.
