Why watch a fight if the judging is going to be corrupt?

My guess is that once fight fans learned that the fight would take place in the same location, many of them decided that the bout was a "no buy."

Hence the reduced buyrate from the first fight.

Boxing only has itself to blame for this. As long as the fans believe the outcomes may be rigged, then the sport will suffer.

They tank and only make 50 million dollars. The reason this is horrible is because they spent 200 million filming. Boxing events get put together for a couple hundred grand. That's 50 million profit.

 

I know Mayweather was on Dancing With the Stars, Wrestlemania XXIV, Fox and Friends, Mike and Mike, BET Awards, Guys Choice Awards, Entertainment Tonight, Live with Kelly, The Colbert Report, Showtime Sports, ESPN Friday Night Fights, Larry King Now, Jim Rome on Showtime, Soul Train Awards, Conan, Piers Morgan Tonight, Joe Buck Live, Chelsea Lately, WWE Raw, HBO Boxing After Dark, Larry King Live, Last Call with Carson Daly, and a couple of tv walk ons and documentaries. Plus, he had that computer commercial and is friends with 50 Cent and Justin Bieber.

Pacquiao was on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Entertainment Tonight, Fox News Sunday, Miss Universe 2014, Today, ESPN Friday Night Fights, Piers Morgan Tonight, Tosh.0, 60 Minutes, Lopez Tonight, Boxing After Dark. Plus, I remember him and Marquez going on a lot of Mexican talk shows before their fights. He has tv shows and albums out in the Philippines where he's a congressman and runs a national basketball team. He has had endorsements from Nike and been on the cover of Men's Health, Esquire, Sports Illustrated, Time, Reader's Digest, Sport, Ring, Boxing News, etc.

You need to achieve some level of media saturation. You put Ward, Kovalev, and GGG on that kind of media tour and they'll do the same numbers as Pac and May. Besides all that, they went on all the radio shows. Guys right now aren't even trying. They don't need promoters. They need publicists.

Nah bro. Gotta disagree. Everybody knew the story of this fight and the loud crowd was over here predicting Kov. If they truly believed in Kov then this fight would've been worth buying for these people but no. We all saw Ward overcome adversity after a KD and finish the stronger fighter. Kovalev threw every excuse out he could and looked shook every press conference. People knew what the deal was.

The usual suspects on this board made excuse thread after excuse thread and the customary Ward will duck the rematch thread. These signs have been played out before and we're nothing new. Majority of idiots were just acting out just like Kovalev. Analytical explanations on how Kovalev won were absolutely abysmal. Nobody here could give a good explanation why and how he won. Just emotional responses and popularity contests per usual bandwagon group therapy nonsense.

That's why I hate moral support and moral victories. They mean nothing and they're cheap. It doesn't matter. Ward showed the masses up and that's all that matters.

 

That's ridicolous. It was a close fight.

 

Im not saying that Kov Ward 1 was an ad decision but bad decisions aren't the reason why a good ppv fight doesn't sell.
