Heavy-hitting Middleweight king Gennady Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) has dismissed WBO World Champion Billy Joe Saunders (24-0, 12 KOs) as a “clown”. On September 16th, the Kazakh KO king defends his WBC, IBF, IBO and WBA ‘Super’ World Titles against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in the fight of the year, live on Pay-Per-View. The winner of the mouth-watering showdown will then turn their attentions towards Saunders, who holds the final jewel in the Middleweight crown. “Of course I want all [the] belts. This is my goal, to hold all of the belts in the Middleweight division,” Golovkin told iFL TV. Triple G was pretty blunt in his assessment of Billy Joe, who became World Champion in December 2015: “Everyone knows him, he is not serious. He’s a clown!”

Earlier this year, Saunders was close to agreeing to a unification fight with Golovkin, however talks broke down and the September megafight was confirmed in May. “Everybody wants to watch this fight,” argued GGG. “Everybody has waited for this fight! I think this is the biggest fight in boxing right now. A big drama show is coming! “I know him, he knows me. We respect both. He’s a huge fighter, I’m the Champion. This is an amazing time for boxing.” Golovkin is doubtful that the hype and interest in his fight with Canelo will be affected by Floyd Mayweather’s return to the ring three weeks earlier, when he faces UFC star Conor McGregor.

Everybody understands that my fight with Canelo is a true fight, a boxing fight,” he said. “It is not a TV show or a funny show.” Saunders was due to defend his belt against Avtandil Khurtsidze but the bout was cancelled due to a legal case. The show still goes ahead with young talents Hughie Fury, Anthony Yarde and Daniel Dubois in action.

    Hahahah. Ouch.

Although Saunders has admitted fear of Golovkin before. So at least he can be candid and honest.

I might sooner call Canelo a clown.

BJS admitted that GGG would knock him out. He also admitted he was waiting for GGG to get old before taking a fight with him.

That is BJS plan- for GGG to get old.

However as he is a gypsy you really cant trust a word he says.

Shame BJS lacks power, if he had some to keep GGG at range I think he would beat him.

that's pretty funny because BJS said something very close to that during his interview after the Eubank Jr fight.

During that interview (which unlike US style, both teams are sitting are sitting at the same time and interviewed by members of the media) Eubank Jr said that he had too much left when the fight ended--that he would have won the fight if he had been more aggressive in the earlier rounds. Saunders chimed in just as he finished that statement with "if me grandma had balls she'd be me grandpa"

i think they both had good points

This is what happens when you try to 'wait' someone out... the window of opportunity is sometimes very small... common mistake in boxing

BJS, Wilder and Stevenson are pathetic and it ruins the sport when fighters like these are allowed to hold their belts hostage making pathetic defences... I hope all 3 get knocked out soon and don't get anywhere near another title shot...
