Nobody gives Bruno credit for that fight . He was the first fighter to really stand up to Tyson and he almost clipped him to sleep. Very overlooked by fans. Bruno did well coming over and bringing his nuts with him. This content is protected
I saw Tyson Holmes one afternoon on television. It was such a big fight my Pop (grandfather) was watching it. It didn't last long but I enjoyed the occasion. I remember some of Jeff Fenech's great fights including the one where he took out that skinny Thai dude. That was a brutal beat down. I even remember seeing Jeff Fenech on a flight and I was just staring at him like a star struck child; I was an adult at that time. I was upset when he got screwed by the judges against Azumah Nelson. Later on I remember getting into training and sparring at my gym while at about the same time a guy called Kostya Tszyu started hitting the headlines in Australia. I loved his attitude and the way he boxed - seek and destroy. A good mate of mine used to buy the KT fights and I'd come over and watch them on his big screen. Those were the days. I also remember catching some of the Eubank, Benn, Watson fights on Star Sports when I was living overseas. Some very good fights for those that haven't seen them. I remember going to watch Oscar De La Hoya fight a few times. He might be a greedy promoter but he didn't duck anyone. Eventually I got onto this forum and kept up to date with boxing. I used to like Floyd and remember him taking apart Corrales and Gatti, but then he started fighting very carefully selected fighters such as Carlos Baldomir. It was all over after the gift against Oscar. I think boxing is a great sport and I guess there is always the human love of violence no matter how much we want to deny it's existence. I like real fighters like Marciano, Ali, Charles, Frazier, Greb, Langford, Hearns, Duran, Morales, JMM, Pacquiao, V Klit, Green, Mundine, Kessler, etc. Some fighters that I don't like as much include W Klitschko the bear hugger, Lewis for not rematching Vitali, Floyd and Canelo for ducking, Ward for getting away with murder in his fights, Khan for talking smack and then getting KTFO and then talking smack again. I hate almost all the promoters. They're greedy and they are destroying boxing. To me boxing is dying and I just can't get into MMA. I like the crazy Irishman McGregor and Mark Hunt who has a granite chin and fists of steel. That's about it.
Growing up my dad had a lot of Boxing on VHS which I decided I wanted to look at and see what it was all about. The 3 fights I remember watching over and over again was the Rumble in the Jungle, Thrilla in Manila and Ken Buchannan vs Roberto Duran. When I showed an interest my dad and grandfather (who are still Boxing fans today) began to educate me on fighters of the past and I became enthralled. I would say the night I fell in love with the sport was when my dad brought me home 2 VHS tapes of Mike Tyson and Nigel Benn. I watched those back to back and over and over and have been in love with the sport ever since. I think a lot of fans initially showed an interest due to their parents influence - there's an emotional attachment there to the sport for many.
The whole show from pre fight interviews to the action of just two guys slugging it out in a ring for honor Ali, Marvin Hagler, Vinny Paz (trash talker from hell), Sugar Ray and the list goes on and on forever. Real men who only had themselves to blame or praise at the end of 15 or 5 rounds. Just love the sport.
