Joseph Parker vs. Hughie Fury To Take Place In The UK In September

Interesting fight if it happens. First thoughts are I will believe it when they are stood in the ring. The fight itself, my first thoughts are that Parker will stop Hughie in the later rounds. Parker needs a good performance after his last two fights. Hughie Fury also didn't look great against Kassi. That was well over a year ago now. Will one easy tune up fight on July 8th be enough? I don't know. Not sure if Fury is on the Blackpool event now on July 15th.

 

I'd never buy tickets for a Fury fight

 

They're an incredibly tough sell now. The Fury's have backed out of so many fights of late that only an idiot would risk buying tickets, arranging travel and paying for any accommodation required in the hopes of the fight actually happening. Might as well take the money and burn it, same result based off of recent attempts to get a Fury in the ring. Suffice to say I expect a low turnout should the fight take place, too many boxing fans have been stung before to risk it.

 

Huge step up for Fury who has never fought anyone even close to Parker's ability. Parker, i believe will chase him down right from the bell and Fury will be back pedaling till he get knocked out or stopped.
Rumour has it, the real reason he pulled out, was not the re occurrence of a old back injury but was due to sever dehydration bought on by his constant soiling of his pants in the lead up to the scheduled fight in Auckland.

 

I want to know how Fury ever gets a shot.
There again, how does Parker hold a belt.

 

Good fight, I think Parker should be the favorite, Fury is a live underdog though.

Taking a tune up is a smart move as long as nothing goes wrong. Fury will be off a year and a half by the time he fights Parker if he doesn't get one or two quick fights in first.

If I was Parker I'd have financial guarantees in case Fury pulls out again and a replacement opponent on the undercard to step in as a replacement for the likely scenario of another Fury pull out.

 

Yeah good points. I was a little worried about Hughie pickin up an injury in his warm up fight but as you mentioned, it's been awhile sinces hes fought and it would be unfair to not have any prep at all. I'd like to see Hughie take on Cojanu as his warm up fight.

In regards to financial guarantee, I'm assuming Parkers management has something like that just in case.

 

Fury family is the worst in recent boxing history. Just terrible.

I hope Parker KO's him, brutal and cold, in 1 round.

If that is the case then you have to wonder as to who has more power in the WBO title, the champion or the challenger. It's like Hughie and Warren have Joe on a string. It annoys me to speculate that Warren knew all along he could get the fight to Manchester by having Hughie cunningly boycott the scheduled May fight in NZ. Maybe Im jumping to conclusions but now that things are set in place and I sit back and soak up and review all thats gone on with Hughie Fury and Frank Warrens social media statements, it all seems to point to Frank Warren playing Duco and David Higgins as puppets. Warren did call Duco 'amateurs' and I think I know what he means now.

There is a reason that 9 out of 10 times Warren's world champions are created through the WBO.

Even David Haye... he was in talks with TV networks prior to taking the Bellew fight. All of a sudden he is made mandatory to the WBO which now doubt would of been a huge fight for Boxnation/BT.

I'm with you in thinking now, the minute Frank lost that purse bid they were scrambling round trying to find ways out of that fight and the fact they never flew out early to NZ for it tell me they sacked off the idea long before it was announced.

 

Why was this not rescheduled for New Zealand? Does Parker want the UK exposure with a view to the Joshua fight?

Fury is nowhere near a UK PPV fighter and has virtually no mainstream following.

**sorry a bit behind in this thread. Surely if Warren lost the purse bid duco have the right to refuse to travel? They must have agreed to the fight taking place in Manchester.
