Kovalev has hinted his stamina problems is because he had trouble making
175 lbs and invasion of the Crusierweight is on the cards. This division is
stacked with some big punchers. Can he rule at Cruiserweight ?

I think Kovalev's too small for cruiser... he lacks the frame for it.

Gets stopped . He cannot be bothered anymore.

I doubt he fights in the US again.

He has nothing to lose in doing so. I wouldn't mind a civil war between Beterbiev and Kovalev. He doesn't look like a young 34 year old, that's for sure.

It's a terrible idea, in fact I hate the idea, Kovalev is too small for Cruiserweight, I'm afraid he may get the RJJ treatment few times. Although if glass jawed Sillakh can hang tough against and almost beat Masternak, and featherfisted Vlasov's power improved, and decent puncher Bellew's power and weak chin improved, I'm not ruling out Kovalev potentially becoming a force. He needs quite a few soft touches first though.

I don't think he'd do all that well at CW. His vaunted knockout power wouldn't be as damaging and the durability issues would be compounded.

His stamina problems could get worse with the extra weight , like ko4clev when he moved up.

Well, in Clev's defense, he didn't get a chance to work out his stamina issues up there, he took both of his opponents out in 4 before he got to the Bellew fight, so his power improved and his chin was still solid, to date he's the only guy at CW to go the distance with Bellew, in a match he was half dead in.

Kovalev's stamina problems are only a problem against master defensive fighters. Ward makes him work to win rounds with activity and that tires him out.

Most people are getting hammered with right hands and are trying to just not end up in the ICU when they fight Kovalev.

Somehow Ward managed to not get nailed with the right hand and then waited for Kovalev to gas. Who else can avoid the right hands? Nobody can.

Don't think he'll do well at cruiser at all, I'd pick all the top guys like Usyk, Briedis, Gassiev, Lebedev to beat him and stop him.

As someone has already said he's not got the frame for cruiserweight, I could be wrong but I feel we will see Kovalev retired within 18month.

I hated seeing Kovalev gas in that second Ward fight. In about the 5th round I was like "here we go again, with the gassing ****, Jesus Christ". Saw it from a mile away as did everybody else. And then by the 7th and 8th round dude was just exhausted and ready to go.

I can't really fault him because it's a genetic limitation. It is what it is. He's just one of those guys who doesn't have much of a tank. But it's annoying when you're a huge fan.

I suspect Kovalev has aged progressively over the last two years. Stamina issues clearly reveal that. Christ, he is 34 and looks 44. Golovkin is older at 35 and Kovalev looks like his drunk uncle.

Kovalev needs to hop on that TRT stuff.

He really should stay at 175. He can still win belts there! At Cruiser he'd be beaten by Usyk and Briedis.

It's hard to jump from 175 to 200... He doesn't have the build but he could beat Bellew. Still, I'd stay at 175 and try to get a fight agaisnt Stevenson or something...
