where u from? ggg or bud dont even get talked about where im from. not many ppl talk boxing at all. ggg gets criticized because hes more known. plain and simple. ppl dont kno crawford. lots of ppl dont kno ggg but alot more know of him oppose to bud.
That only means one thing: Jacobs got underrated after he got KTFO by Pirog but that was 7 years ago, so people shouldn't have focused on that. Postol got overrated after he beat a war-torn Matthysse who had problems with his eye before that. No, I didn't pick Postol to win but I said he would put up a better fight than Gamboa. But let's not forget what you said. You claimed once that Quillin had a better resume than Golovkin, and then after Jacobs beat Quillin you claimed that DJ had a better resume than Golovkin. After GGG beat Jacobs you still don't give him credit and you still pick apart his resume like nothing changed. That's why you are 100% biased and your opinion about GGG means a little.
It's mostly relative to how they're discussed. Golovkin is often viewed as a Messiah of sorts to many fans, trying to liken his mystique to a modern John L. Sullivan, it often seems. Crawford is just viewed as very, very good. So there's a difference. There have been several top ranked popular fighters in and around Golovkins' division that he never fought. While 135 and 140 have been weak in his stays there, Crawford has beaten a lot of the top guys and moved up in weight. Crawford burst on the scene with an overseas win against Burns to lift a title and then the big exciting win over Gamboa and then the Beltran win to capture the lineal in most peoples' eyes back to back to back. Those three wins would all without question be in Golovkins' top 10; not bad considering the age difference between Golovkin and Crawford. He then beat Victor Postol for what is likely his best victory to date in an embarrassing one sided fight. You might forget but a good large percentage here picked Postol to win that fight. Even his more mediocre victories in between the notable ones like Molina, Dulorme, Diaz are on par with all but a few of Golovkins' opponents. So, really, you are just kinda off base entirely with this thread.
Beating Ricky Burns, at any point let alone when Crawford did, is way better and more significant than beating the best Curtis Stevens ever. Your opinion is fine but your examples to justify it are wack!
Gamboa was undefeated when he fought Crawford, what is now is irrelevant. Postal was undefeated when he fought Crawford. Diaz had one loss and a very questionable one at that. After Crawford beats them than they are "bums" on this forum. And Crawford has beaten those boxers convincingly!!! Crawford cleaned out 135, then went to 140 and, if Obango fights him and Crawford controls all 4 belts he will move up. When he goes to 147 and beats some of those guys they will become "bums" on this forum. Give the kid some credit
All of those losses were AFTER Crawford beat an UNDEFEATED Gamboa. Crawford took his heart when he beat him
They have WEIGHT limits NOT SIZE limits. Tommy Hearns was very tall for a Welterweight and no one held that against him. If you make the weight you belong in the weight class. Postal was taller than Crawford but I didn't hear Crawford complaining about him being "much bigger." He simply kicked his ass
I think we can all agree that Golovkin is more highly regarded than Crawford? Therefore he receives more criticism?
Both 135 and 140 are the weakest that I can ever recall and these are the divisions he's ruled. It's all very well being a 2 weight world champion but it's the calibre of opposition one has too look at. Also you cannot talk about "when" he beats the guys at 147 as they haven't happened, but 147 is where he'll make or break his legacy.
Crawford beat a Gamboa who had been relatively inactive, only 3 fights in 3 years, coming off a 12 month layoff...and let's face it he was 2 divisions above his ideal weight. Is this Crawfords fault? Hell no he took the fight and won in good fashion but these are facts. Gamboa is or was in no sense a bum but he couldnt keep his fat arse in check.
The Gamboa win wasn't better than Brook- both opponents were too small to really get the respect of Crawford and GGG, respectively, and it showed in the attitudes of the respective fighters. That said, as a fan of both Bud and GGG, I hope Bud gets the same big fight opportunities that GGG is finally getting, especially since he's young enough to stick around for a bit at that level. I think he's good enough H2H to be the best of the next generation of 147 pounders regardless of whether or not the resume supports it at this point.
