I didn't realise he was giving Jorge Linares a boxing lesson last night!

This boy has decent movement but the bum he was up against still managed to land some good clean shots on Conor. Fortunately for Ben, the bum didn't have any defence or head movement to get out of the way of Conor's punches. A better equipped more experienced fighter would have made a mockery of Benn last night and made him look like a circus clown.

I honestly cant see the Benn going far unless they keep matchmaking with these kind of lowly opponents who have barely trained or strictly domestic before letting him cash out against a name for a title shot.

In this moment in time, Benn is riding his career off his father's name and that is not going to be enough. They need to understand that you can't breed racehorses out from donkeys.

Not seen the fight yet. But reckon hes got potential. Will only improve with the right training/diet etc. Hes turned up a bit raw...but looks like hes got a few things going for him. Half decent speed and power. Better than your average british level fighter anyway at this point. I think he,ll get better as it goes along similar to eubanks junior.

A lot of people came out with the same stuff about eubanks son early...there is still questionmarks over him but already at a level a lot of people said he,d never reach. Can see benn going on to have a half decent career if he keeps at it. I actually think he looks more talented than eubanks son...but eubanks sons got the massive dedication similar to the old man that he looks the more talented. But thats came off the back of some very hard work.

Benn looks very fast with his hands and as pointed out very young/inexperienced but I do fear lack of real 1 punch power, and tendency to take shots and trade will see him lose as steps up

Thought it looked like his power has improved. His trainer said it was good for his age.

Think he's taken a step back and realised a few things .

I don't think he's too small for welterweight, although with his current size he may be better suited to 140.

He's only 20yo, appears to be growing and is 5ft8 and has a stocky build, 147 will be his natural division very soon, and I don't think he will be capable of making 140 when he's 25+

The thing is these guys start changing the goal posts. Like with Jr he was never going to reach British level, he was destined to be beaten by Blackwell and Ryder now all of a sudden he's cherry picking Abraham.

FFS only world class fighters can beat Abe, if Jr beats him he must be world class, but then these jokers will say he will never beat Jamie Cox (a total no hoper) or Groves true elite fighters lol.

The same thing will happen to Conor!!!

Conor needs to take it slowly, he's just a pup there is no need to think about British level for another 3 years, then maybe world level 2 years after that. If he can slowly start making his way through a better class of fighter and rack up say 25 wins, then fight for a British strap I think he will get there no problem. He's not a small 147 but he's not big either, in 3 years I think he will be a tank and won't be out muscled by anyone at British level.

The haters will grow louder and louder when his momentum builds but I hope that doesn't make him rush things too much. The haters have a tendency to want these blokes to fight above their level early so they get exposed, and they will put the pressure on him to make that happen. Keep improving and the haters will start raising the bar, at the moment most think he won't make British level.

Pretty much agree with this. He was very inconvincing defensively. He was also buzzed a couple of times by the bum- so is pretty open times and possibly has a less than stellar jaw...

He is fun to watch against that low level competition but I do not see him being a world champion.

Won't happen whatsoever. You really think Nigel would entertain that. And as far as Harley goes, if you think Conor has room for improvement, Harley has a lot of catching up to do.

Same here. For one so vaunted, he ships an alarming amount of shots even at this level. I really can't see what all the fuss is about.

Conor Benn's first 7 opponents have a total of 8 stoppages between them, all against extremely low-ranked opponents. As N17 stated on Saturday, there has to more to it as to why he's being matched with featherfisted no-hopers. If he stays at Welter, I reckon he gets chinned as soon as he's moved up to British level.

Full time professional athlete in beating non-full time professional athlete on 24 hours notice shocker

Sure, he'll improve but to what extent? Maybe he'll get a British title one day

Why can't you just wish him well? Why all the negativity towards Conor Benn?

Why do I have to wish him well? I don't rate him as a boxer at all and dislike nepotism. I've not wished any harm to him, just that I think the best he *might* ever get is British level. That's a fair comment given where he is at currently.

He is being carried by his name. If his name was Conor James, no one would be hollering about these standard performances that he has shown so far where he is getting into deep war like battles with bums.

There are people desperate to see Nigel Benn again. A case of nostalgia blinding reality
