I agree it is tough to call as he would have a larger following after Canelo and deserve to be considered amongst the top 3 but in terms of skills I think Crawford and Lomachenko are closer to No1 than any other fighter. Ward is top 5, he is crafty but I don't think he has the actual skills to fight like Lomachenko and Crawford do.

I asked you to name me guys that excluded Cotto since we both established Cotto had no business fighting GGG. And you threw his name in there anyway LOL. You then go onto name 3 more guys you say "didnt happen for reasons out of GGGs control". Then give me a list of Zbik , Sturm and Eubank. Hardly guys anyone was dying to see GGG fight.

I would almost buy your "needs fights acclimate to 168 first" excuse if it werent for the fact that Ive seen Loeffler say exactly "if we go to 168 it will be for on a one fight basis and we will go right back to 160". You cant tell me Froch and Chavez were "get ready fights" when Golovkin fans have argued the reason he pursued them and scoffed at Ward were because Chavez and Froch were "big money fights".

And when Ward did reach out and contact K2 he actually did say he wanted them to both have one tuneup before they fight. So Ward was willing to give him that opportunity and meet after. That was actually confirmed.

How legit is that opposition when a guy like Curtis Stevens has losses to D level club fighters on his resume? How legit is it when Daniel Geale got blown out by Cotto who doesnt even belong at MW? How legit is that comp when David Lemiuex has a loss to a 154lb fighter in Alcine?

Its a KO streak. Its mildly impressive. Im not saying it means nothing. But its not that crazy considering the competition.

I love when Golovkin fans try to play victrim and "woe is me" with the high and double standards. You guys invented the high/double standards and then cry when someone points out how relatively weak Golovkins resume is. Its unbelievable really

It's funny as I didn't think you were Shockmaster straight away as I thought you were making plenty of sense. Then the above agenda driven post.

Cotto is relevant despite the fact he would have been an easy win. He put himself in the firing line by winning the lineal title and not vacating it immediately.

Zbik and Sturm wins would have accelerated his career considerably at the time they were mooted. As a relative unknown how the hell was he supposed to get the biggest fights when he couldn't even secure a showdown with the bigger names from the country that he was operating out of represented by his own promoter?

BJS went on record saying he didn't want any, Taylor got locked up, AA moved up, his dad died in the Lee build up, Korobov got upset, PQ didn't want anything to do with Korobov let alone GGG and Pirog got injured. None of that is controversial. So the list provided was vastly different to how you've described it.

Chavez and Froch were big money fights in which he could test the water. I don't believe he would of gone back to 160 if he had looked great at 168 against those guys. If he looked a lesser force at SMW you best believe he would of scuttled back to 160 with no intention of facing Ward.

Of course he would have gone back. Its the reason he never left and never fought Ward. He was chasing the Canelo carrot.

You are bringing Jermain Taylor into this? OH geez. I didnt think the desperation was THAT bad.

Its all good. I dont feel like arguing about Peter Quillin and the rest of a weak crop of MWs as thats a long, tired, argument. But I always find it funny how GGG fans talk about how hes going to be p4p #1 when he beats Canelo and all this and that. But when Ward is on top these lists are "useless and dont matter". Tell me you havent seen that obviously?

Where are you GGG haters getting this from? I'm a GGG fan and I don't think he's #1 with a Can Yellow win, because Can Yellow is over rated.

Of course I've seen the posts unfairly slating Ward much like I've seen people slating GGG unfairly. It is what it is.

168 wise if he scored lucrative fights against JCC and Froch it would be impossible to defend him not making a Ward fight but that's not what happened.

As for Taylor, if you don't think including the IBF title holder in Golovkin's division is worth mentioning well, that's on you. Most fans agree that unifying belts is the way to establish supremacy and JT had a major belt bringing him back in from the cold. That fight would have been arguably more relevant than Ward's defence against a drained Dawson who had looked bad for a while coming in and achieved nothing at the weight.

Golovkin picks up an A-list win, the one he has not gotten yet, if he beats Canelo. It would be a very big win. He has the size and maybe Canelo goes on to be mediocre or worse at 160, sure, but this will still be Golovkins best win. Canelo has achieved quite a bit already and has great form. This is the fight Golovkin has long been waiting for.

Its a great win and puts him at #2 imo, Wards resume is much better overall, Kovalev froch and kessler are all huge win's, GGG has zero big win's so far and canelo would be the first. GGG's best win is jacobs and that's more or less the equivalent of when ward beat Arthur Abraham.

There was nothing controversial about Ward-Kovalev. The rematch was billed "No excuses", remember. Those complaining about the fight are those unhappy because their desired outcome did not come into fruition.
