Calzaghe on points 8-4. Calzaghe is to versatile for Ward who whilst a great fighter showed he isn't the premier "boxer" that people touted him as, he was outboxed by SK in their first fight and convincingly out jabbed in the rematch. Ward isn't winning on the outside and Calzaghe can more than hold his own on the inside with Ward.
Ward left joe's best acheivement behind in his very first title fight, and hasnt looked back. The gulf in class cannot be stressed more than in that. hopkins hit joe at will whilst his tank was still running. It would be the same, more or less...but for 12 rounds, not 6.
With refs and judges Ward has proven unbeatable. With Calzaghes workmate and chin I choose him head to head over almost anyone. Tough one but in a fair fight I choose Joe.
calslappy slaps outworks his way to a decision in a close ugly fight too busy good chin good ring IQ elite stamina of staminas ward would probably do the better quality work but just be outlanded by a ridiculous amount
Ward was clearly better and fought better opposition imo Calzaghes best win was a split decision over 43 year old Hopkins. Calzaghe was definitely no joke and would have been competitive but a lot of his best wins were against opponents closer to the end of careers unlike Ward who has fought and beaten all of the best of his era who where at or near there best with ease apart from Kovalev.
Calzaghe, but SOB would have his personal referee, judges and boxing commission with Bob Bennett lying like hell whenever SOB lands low, headbutts, elbows, holds, wrestles, etc., but Calzaghe was so fast SOB would have a real problem even with his criminal pals protecting him.............
I think the only way joe can win it is if, after getting floored by Ward in round 1 (EVIDENCE - as he was vs Mitchell, Jones, Hopkins), he gets up and lowblows Ward (EVIDENCE - as joe did vs Hopkins), turns to the ref to ask him to stop it (EVIDENCE- Joe motions ref to stop fight vs Mitchell after he gets knocked over). Welsh Cardiff ref then stops it, Welsh crowd cheer... but the rest of the world has no idea why the fight was stopped when joe was losing. Serious - Wards roughhouse tactics at times pale in comparison to joes abject cheating vs much lesser opposition.
'Slick ' ... lol He was dropped by two old age pensioners and was always very hittable at 168. I can only assume you never seen the guy fight in your entire life.
