It's not all about the money, when grant quiggly pulled out the fight with Tommy Philbin I knew how much TF was wanting to win a belt so I sponsored the challenge title fight through my boxing shop so he could fight for a belt, being a coach is being able to develop fighters from the beginning, simple fact is Scotland doesn't have enough coaches who can do this

i hear what you are saying but you are in a good position where you made quite a bit of money with ricky burns and have probably managed to pay off your house etc, you have a sponsor letting you coach full time but lots of coaches not just in scotland but general have bills to pay and don't have the financial safety you have so when they are training boxers on a day to day basis for unto 10 weeks the numbers don't really add up for them:thumbsup: thats not a dig at anyone just a truth, most coaches would could earn £200 + a week easy doing PT's to white collar boxers:thumbsup:

i have a sponsor who helps my gym not me personally, like everyone I work in my gym and I work at the weekends in another environment
But being a coach you need to sacrifice time and money many times, and sometimes you just don't get paid at all

very honest post Billy and from what I know everyone in the game needs to be realistic about money - trainers make little, boxers little and sometimes nothing to get fights in, managers the same and then promoters often lose money

hopefully Taylor wins this weekend so we keep the tv shows coming up here for him!!!!!!
