No sure if its thread worthy but reading his book the now. Well worth a read...best boxing book i ve read for a while.
Gomez was vastly underrated and sadly vastly under committed at times. Will be reading this for sure! In his own words or with help?
Sounds as though its worth getting, ill look out for it. Gomez was a card, was in some fantastic fights and brought some great fans along with there ponchos and mexican hats. They were going to do a film on him at one time, dont know what happened to it though
Pretty much good from the start lads. Always knew gomez was a bit mental but didnt quite realise how crazy his life was outside the ring. If its to be believed its actually unbeilevable that he was a bit of a contender. Makes you wonder what could have been if he was dedicated. Again tho like mike tyson etc they seem to be up against it from the start with the upbringing etc. Day four of my holiday jamie moore book up next seems a half decent read so far. Only just started it tho. Think the film got sacked off with a lack of funding sparticus...bit of a shame really hopefully its resurected at one point. Pretty much in his own words no doubt the authors kept him right tho johnny.
You on about fighting chance ? Read it years ago fascinating Forum turned in to some mma waste land it seems
Only just on the first chapter mate. Will update tomorrow when i m into it more. Pretty sure it got good reviews will be surprised if its as good as the gomez one tho Pretty sure its only just came out ashish.
The Jamie Moore book is good and well worth a read. No major revelations but a good background to the fighter and person Just finished reading journeymen. For anyone that goes to the small hall shows would highly recommend. It's a couple of years old now, chapter each on the likes of Laight, Greaves, Nesbit and Daniel Thorpe.
Released a new book just called Gomez. If I remember right fighting chance was before his comeback but did cover some of the early life stuff the proposed film (07?) had in the trailer
Half decent so far just read as far as hes just turned over into the pro game. Think his amatuer career was a mixed bag...lost too hatton. Didnt quite make the top level think mainly cause his style didnt quite suit the amatuer game. Not quite on the level of gomez,s book. But still a decent read this far anyway.
It had loads of shyte in there The time the gym was robbed at night with him jennings and the other slips my mind all training away in the dark when the thieves come in through the roof Great book
