Once more, the Botha fight was a low point after a long suspension in his 30s, and he did shake off the rust and get back into reasonable form after this fight.

You guys like to pretend fighting shape is an unbroken trajectory, like once a fighter hits a certain low he can't pull himself up from it, absolutely absurd.

He was very good against Golota, a full year after this fight.

Buster Mathis JR also made Riddick Bowe miss a lot of punches and look bad. In fact, Bowe is very lucky he got away with a no contest in that fight, it very well could have been a DQ loss. He was simply a very troubling defensive fighter at this stage of his career, Tyson still destroyed him after a few rounds.

 

Let's not pretend the Botha fight was a constant and Tyson remained in that form forever more. He improved on his first comeback fight and was very good against Golota. Problem was, he got suspended again and came back in awful form for the Lewis fight.

 

Love this fight and the build up to it. Huge Botha fan and he gave Tyson a lot to think about. Superb shot to finish the fight from Tyson - that being said he's had better KO's and I don't see this as the twighlight of his career.

 

Tyson in his prime was such an art to watch, Cus taught him well, after Don King conned Tyson, it was all down hill...........

Tyson didn't look that good against golota to me, better than he was against Botha but still a shell.

He still had that look of desperation, like he could go nuclear at any moment the further the fight went on. If golota took him a few more rounds I think mike would probably have gassed pretty soon.

He landed a good right but his combinations looked like an actor trying to remember his lines. He looked relived to me when it was over, posturing like he was angry but the truth is he probably didn't want to fight.

Remember the erratic pre fight stuff, talk of quitting, bitter rants to the press? He was mentally shot and on weed during training. So trying to paint this as some Tyson resurgence is false in my eyes.

I maintain after prison you see a different fighter physically and most of all mentally. He couldn't cope with anything off script, bent arms, bit ears, quit.

 

here's your Mike Tyson come from behind victory ... and my two cents: he wasn't shot, but was way past prime though and rusty as hell.

 

Just blindly relying on one big punch to the face is not a good recipe for success against an above average to elite fighter.

 

Even with that short a punch you could see how Mike turned his fist into it with that snap in it.

Prime tyson started dying the day he left the trainer. Cant get my head round why people still believe how it turned out for him would have been how it always would have turned out for him regardless if he,d kept his head on right. Its just a pity cus didnt get tyson when cus was say ten years younger. Not sure if he would have kept tysons head on right but if anyone could it would have been cus. Who was lets be honest totally overbearing. Personally think tyson had too many mental scars to have not destroyed it all.

But the guy your seeing against botha etc is a guy that pretty much made every bad decision he could have. Marrying given. Getting rid of his trainer. Getting involved with don king. Raping someone. Going to prison. Taking drugs continually. Drinking. Balloning up in weight. Not training properly. Not training the same style to what made his succesful style. Getting involved with too many girls. Its hard to see how he could have made any worse decisions than he did. It was actually testament to cus,s training/style that he lasted as long as he did.

 

I'd be more suprised that they use facebook personally. That generation treat it as a joke.
