Good move by Wilder's team if this fight is signed.
Does a good job of silencing Hearn, who said that Wilder needs to fight someone that the Brits know to up his profile in the UK . Well Ortiz fought in the UK and on Sky so he fits the bill.

Smart move, now its up to Deontay

All forgiven if he beats a geriatric Cuban whose best win is who exactly?

Yes, it's a big step in the right direction and massive step up from recent opponents but let's not jump on his knackers just yet. This is little more than step 1 in proving he's not the biggest fraud currently fighting.

On paper. I'm from FL I knew a guy from Cuba in high school he was four years old than his american age. When you come to America on a raft you can lie about your age.
I think Ortiz is older than he states who knows tho it's just speculation

If this happens, fair play to Wilder. Very dangerous fight. Although I'm sure if he wins, people will say, "Ortiz is old/Ortiz is overrated"

    This is excellent news.

Best opponent by far for both men and it will show where both fighters are in the division.

Personally I think Ortiz as good as he is is vastly overated.

I like Wilder in this one, just hope it gets made.

Thats for sure. How do you see this fight going ? Early KO ( 1st to 4th ) or a decision ?

I'm not sure but what I know is this fight will bring some excitement back to the US HW scene.

    Shoud've put it on FOX

Full credit to Wilder if he goes through with this, not many are keen on facing Ortiz. I guess it does make sense though, he forces Joshua to fight him if he wins by taking the mandatory spot.

And yes, I'm picking Wilder to get through it. Ortiz is in his late forties.

Late KO, Ortiz outboxing Wilder as usual before getting caught by the big right hand.

I dont know why Wilder said to no 4M but if he signed that fight DiBella would've been out of the picture for Wilder's next few fights. That was the catch, Haymon's ffightes arent signed long term to any promoter ( except fighters in Canada) so Hearn wanted to fill in the blank and make money from both sides.
    Like he did with Indongo

If this is actually true then, great. I think Ortiz will win by stoppage.
