After watching this fight again I think it's impossible to score it a draw and worse to give it to Leonard as Tommy Kazmarik did 113-112. And how Dalby Shirley came up with a score of 112-112 with Hearns scoring 2 KD's is bizarre. I had it 114-112 Hearns and that was generous on the close rounds to Leonard. The only rational I can figure is Leonard will be matched with Duran if he wins and if Hearns wins he'll never go back to middleweight, this fight at 162 drained Hearns. What did you have it?

I also had it 114-112 Hearns. The KDs were the difference on my card.

I haven't watched it in awhile, but I had Hearns winning. The 2 knockdowns were the big difference in the fight.

I see no possible way to give this fight to SRL, nor score it a draw really. I had Hears by 2-4 points, depending on how generous I was being to SRL

I had Hearns winning. Very close one but the two knockdowns sealed it for me.

Hearns won for sure, by a couple of points for me.

Hearns won.. 114 -112. I wanted to see a Hearns/Duran rematch.. I think it would have gone longer than 2 rounds this time. maybe into round 6 with Hearns winning less impressively.

Why didn't Duran ever talk of a rematch with Hearns? It must have been humiliating for him to have been knocked out cold and falling face first to the canvas yet he never seemed revenge against Hearns.

Supposedly SRL said, "off camera", that Hearns won Fight 2. But SRL will never say it
    straight up..for the record.

I remember an interview with Duran and he said if he'd fought Hearns at 160 he thought he'd have won. The Hearns that fought Leonard at 162 looked weak

Leonard has said in an interview "as far as the rematch goes, I would give that fight to Tommy".

Duran has an excuse for every loss or even victories.

I read his biography by Chrisitian Guidance. Great read BTW...Duran is possibly the biggest excuse maker of all time. Foreman is one of the worst for one singular fight, he will go on saying he "accepts" the loss to Ali and then makes more excuses, but Duran has an excuse for everything.

He put on one of the greatest performances ever against Leonard in Montreal and even then, he claims he was sick and could have fought better.

what else is Duran going to say. I think Hearns beats Duran at any weight. Too much leverage on that right hand, and the jab would bust up Duran. Duran's only chance would be to make it into a brawl. and I don't think he would take Hearns right hand well. But I think the fight goes longer than 2 rounds in 1989. Not because of weight but because Hearns in 1989 was much more diminished than in 1984 at his peak.

Duran always made excuses. I always called him excuses of stone. Benitez, Hearns, Leonard. all those loses he didn't train for. but he trained for Barkley and Moore? Lesser fighters? That sure makes sense.
