Who takes this one? Is Walcott too crafty a counter puncher or does Lyle overwhelm Walcott with size and strength. On a good night, I'd back Walcott to get the UD win. With his movement and countering skills I can see him outboxing and outfoxing Ron Lyle. The fight may be reminiscent of Lyle's battle with Quarry somewhat.

I think JJW would be a class above.

I like both fighters but if Young takes him twice then Walcott takes him. Ive always put Walcott ahead of Young as far as being crafty and cute goes.

Walcott, on his very best day absolutely pee 's on lyle. The size or weight difference won't make a difference. Walcott would mess with lyle and counter him all night. Way too crafty, Walcott takes a lop sided decision.

JJW was a better, fitter, faster, smarter, trickier version of Jimmy Young and he packed power in his punches as well. 'nuff said.

Lol 180 pound club fighter Rocky Marciano knocked out Walcott. 178 pound Tiger Jack Foxx knocked Joe out stiff. 190 pound Al Ettore put Jersey Joe to bed. Big lumbering oaf Abe Simon iced out Walcott and even bum fighters like Johnny Allen out boxed him. But yeah 6'3 220 pound Ron Lyle couldn't beat him.

The stupidity of you people never cease to amaze me.

Lyle is exactly the kind of fighter that Walcott excelled against.

The majority of those losses came while Walcott was a part time fighter going without food.

And Marciano would possibly be a handful for many ATG's that are not power punching super heavies. Yeah I know he was 185 lbs but so did Ali when he said Marciano, even in defeat, would have given him hell. And consider this, if Ali felt Marciano would have hit hard enough to hurt him or knock him down, then Marciano hit hard enough to hurt any heavyweight as Ali had a ATG heavyweight chin, better than say, Wlad Klitchsko chin.

Lyle could knock Walcott out and he could take a hell of a beating.

Imagine if the only film we had of Ron Lyle was vs a peak Joe Louis? Like we have of Abe Simon? We might be thinking that Lyle was just a lumbering oaf, too.
