You know Stevie, that answer kind of surprised me. Even though I believe Walcott could win against this Ali, I expected a 'Walcott s no chance reply' '. But this is a crafty fighter against a young clay and perhaps Joe takes the youngster to school?
Walcott would have success countering Clay but Clay would out work and overwhelm him for the most part. Clay wins this competitive bout on points IMO.
This is the thing with Walcott, so unpredictable and so talented. He could have faced the older Ali and lost every round in a stinker, or he could have made older ali look a amateur.
Definitely a nightmare matchup for Ali. Walcott was a rhythm buster. Young Ali outpoints him in a highly technical match of outside fighting, rhythm wars, and mind games. Mainstream fans would find the lack of action unentertaining. A 70's Ali with Walcott makes for a much more interesting fight, with more damage being dealt by both fighters, as Ali is forced to deal with Walcotts counter power punching more directly.
