Mikey is good, but not that good, not yet at least. Sanchez was on another level. More fluid, better footwork, better combination punching, better chin, better inside fighter. Mikey is a great counterpuncher, as was Sal, but he doesn't look to comfortable fighting on the inside. And that's because Sal was kinda lanky, but didn't fight lanky as say, a Rocky Martinez would.

Mikey physically reminds me of Lupe Pintor, but his style reminds more of a prime JMM. Not as exciting or risk taking tho.

Nah, I don't see it. Can't say who he reminds me of. Some guys remind me of other boxers. Some guys don't. Crawford reminds me of Hearns. Lemieux reminds me of Dempsey. Hagler reminds me of Shavers and Briscoe. Pacquiao reminds me a little of Duran. Jones Jr reminds me of Charley Burley. Ali reminded me a little of Willie Pastrano with his footwork.

He has the signature "la Colonia" school of boxing. They're excellent 1-2 punchers with an occasional body attack although he did go the body tonight. His style is similar to a prime less aggressive Fernando Vargas mixed with prime non aggressive jmm sprinkled with augie sanchez

Hmm, when I think of Arguello, I think of the Explosive Thin Man. He had so much height and reach advantage over everybody but Escalera, like Hearns did and I thought his style was built to capitalize on that fact. Mikey doesn't typically enjoy those kinds of advantages though, except for in the rare case of Zlaticanan. Plus, Arguello was also something of an action star who was frequently in wars. His punching was picture perfect like Joe Louis but he had **** footwork. Mikey's punching isn't quite that level, but his footwork is probably better.

Comparisons to past greats means he's on the right track. I'd like him to go to the body more

I think Mikey is smarter, more complete, and fundamentally than Canelo. But I think Canelo is more explosive, faster hand speed for his division, and puts better combinations together. I mean we'll see after he fights GGG. If he beats GGG convincingly I have to rate Canelo above Mikey.

Sanchez fought with equal parts heart/brain whereas Garcia is like a very skilled surgeon or assassin. No emotion involved.
