I agree dude does deserve credit atleast he doesnt duck fighters and the guys he lost to are real good fighters (Porter, Maidana, Garcia) people dogging him are the same people that dogged a guy like Taylor but yet if he ducked challenges and took the easy route hes protected you see the double standard
I don't know about showing courage, he seems to just shell up when he's up against it or when he's been in with someone he doesn't have a huge size advantage over. Usually has a slight roll of the dice in the 12th or so. He doesn't need to retire though, that's crazy. He'll have 203 build up fights and be dropped in with another name. He'll lose. Rinse. Repeat.
The problem with Broner and respect is that he feels he can gain it by trash talking constantly. Apparently he believes that trash talking is an admirable trait. While that might be true for certain subcultures the majority of people find it obnoxious. Ironically, when he sees them react negatively his solution is to disgorge more trash talking which only serves to further increase the disrespect from the majority of fans. So it's a vicious cycle. An example is during the post fight interview where he reacted to a statement from the interviewer by going into the trash-talking mode because he felt disrespected. In short, he is reinforcing the very thing he is trying to avoid. LOL!
AB would deserve respect if he was respectful to our sport or to other fighters, or to us boxing fans. Guess what? He's not. He disrespects everything and everyone, he's acting like some entitled little brat. He deserves all the disrespect coming his way.
Last sentence is a perfect way to put it ! He's nearly the full package, but just stupid it seems. It's like he boxes to look cool instead of using his brain
I won't respect him. I give him credit for taking on some big names, but that's where it stops. He's beaten no one elite.
I think the OP is cool peoples... But screw this thread. AB is a POS in and out of the ring. Just because AB's shown flashes of humility doesn't mean AB isn't still one of the worst human beings alive. AB deserves a hard slap across the face (after I've farted into my pimp hand).
If he had spent more time punching and less time talking during the fight maybe he would have done better. What was the point of continually talking to Mikey while he was beating him up? I wouldn't say that he should retire, he can still probably make some money as a gatekeeper with that ridiculous 4-time world champion thing, but I think billions are out of the question now
