one thing the broner fight demonstrated to me is that loma's footwork is about ten times better than mikey's. i think he'll look extremely plodding in there, loma will have way more angles.

    I think Loma beats Mikey.
    Power advantage to Mikey
Angles and weird shots to Loma

    1. Second pro fight
    2. Not adjusted to pros in terms of pacing strategy
    3. 40 low blows. 85 ish of the 115 ish official shots of Salido's were 'body shots'...erm, ok.
    4. Low blows set up other punches.
    5. Low blows set up effective aggressiveness.
    6. Was a very close fight. Split decision.
    7. Salido didn't make weight, he rehydrated to 147lbs - looked genuinely as big as a 147lb version of Mayweather.
    8. Loma physically hurt Salido had him almost out in round 12.
    9. Consensus is that Loma would deck him now that he's adjusted.
    10. Styles make fights. Salido is the ultimate stylistic threat who additionally defends very well to the body - nightmare for Lomachenko. Garcia would get TKO'd by Loma.

I'm not writing that again, I'm copying and pasting that from a boxing document on my comp from now on.

At 5:19 Robert Garcia says Lomachenko's manager calls him every week asking when they can start promoting the fight. Then he says he doesn't think Loma is serious about coming to 135. He does not see the fight happening.

And here is Mikey setting 4 conditions before he will fight Lomachenko.

    This content is protected

    1. Bob has to call Mikey's people.
    2. Loma has to move up to 135.
    3. Loma has to have 1, no make that 2, fights at 135 first.
    4. Loma has to win a title at 135.

He also says he'll get no credit for beating Loma, Loma's resume is not that good, and he questions whether Bob will let the fight happen.

Chenko's father forced him to take dancing classes before starting to box so that Chenko could have exceptional balance and footwork. That's why he is so nimble on his feet.

Has anyone seen a line for Garcia/Lomachenko anywhere with all the recent buzz about the possibility?

It seems other than the anti-eastern euro contingent, the vast majority have Loma beating Mikey. Now admittedly I am not the boxing aficionado some of you are where you eat and breath the sport but I like the Garcia side in this one, figuring he is the bigger man with more pro experience and established KO power at 135.

How exactly do the pro-Loma side see this fight panning out if it does go down?
Am I overestimating the size difference?

mikeys size, being thrown around with mikeys skill, is too much for a guy the size of loma, i dont care how good he is. lot of people arent seeing how good mikey really is, by this time next year, he will be top 3 p4p.

Mickey is a free agent he could fight with any promoter so don't assume he's tied to any TV.

Mickey & Loma what do they have in common? the answer is Salido both faced him and you know what happened he dropped Salido 4 times every right hand Salido was in the canvas take notice.

Garcia looked really good against Salido for the first four rounds or so before Salido adjusted. Mikey was looking godlike in there with a miraculous performance, until it turned into just a good or decent performance, then Mikey broke his nose and the fight had to be stopped. In the second half of that fight though Salido showed some weaknesses that Mikey has against volume punching, inside fighting, rough house tactics, etc. That's what a veteran/gatekeeper like Salido does. He tests the prospects for weaknesses, and he showed off what was wrong with Lomachenko's game too. I wouldn't say that either fighter came out of their tangles with Salido smelling of roses.

Big fan of both guys. I think Mikey's a HOF caliber talent, and his offensive precision has some shades of Salvador Sanchez to it...but my gut is that he's ultimately too conventional to beat Loma, who has the movement, footwork, defense, and pace to throw off Mikey's timing and ability to get set in a big way. Mikey loves to establish distance and tempo to pick you apart, and I think Loma's kryptonite for that style.

    It'd be like a rich man's Calzaghe-Kessler.
