Why did Marquez struggle against Barrera and Bradley?

Because styles make fights. It goes to show that just because A beat B who beat C doesn't mean A beats C.

It's proven time and time again. If Bradley had more pop I think he'd have given Manny a much tougher time in both fights, he just hits too light.. Marquez hit's with some good pop. Barrera couldn't handle the whirlwind southpaw awkwardness of Manny, no shame in that. Marquez couldn't handle to Bradley's agressive awkward style that was conventional.. where he didn't have that straight right advantage he had vs Pac.

Also, JMM wasn't close to prime in that fight either with Bradley. Remember he looked pretty bad in the Pac fight until landing that bomb... he was on his way to probably getting stopped.

 

This. Bradley's youth and mobility made it difficult for Marquez to time Bradley.

 

I especially agree with your point about Bradley's power; if he had it, he probably would've beat Pac. Especially in the rematch when he landed some clean shots.

Pacquiao's been packing a broken chin since KTFO6, doe. Bradley's like Floyd... featherfisted is an overstatement. They have respectable power.

He didn't struggle against Bradley, he absolutely got his ass whipped against Bradley. Barrera beat him too, though that one was much closer.

 

Marquez was getting out boxed by Pacquiao easier than any of their previous fights before the KO. Marquez ended that fight as emphatically and decisively as it is possible to end a fight but that doesn't erase how he wasn't boxing as well as he was in their three previous fights. He wasn't the same fighter he used to be at 140 and above.

It's all relative. To Pacquiao, Bradley is feather fisted. To 90% of the welterweight division, Bradley is feather fisted.

 

Then what does that say about Bradley who can't hit half as hard as Pac a man who's optimal weight class is 126?

Pacquiao's best weight class in a physical sense is 126 and yet he still hits much harder than Bradley who's optimal class was 140. Bradley's so overrated.

Also a prime Barrera pummels Marquez like a drum.

Barrera was world class and Marquez is like 5 years older than Pac. Imagine a 5 years older Pac vs that Bradley and he prob loses.
