Too dangerous matches for Whyte. Miller and Breaseale vs Whyte are 50/50 fights, they can beat Dillian.

I thought Hearn will pick Ray Austin to be honest.

 

By the way, Tann is 1-1 (1 KO) - yes, 2 fights in the last 10 years, so it's an easy pick.

 

At 2 weeks notice it was never going to be a live body facing Whyte. I get it that this is a stay busy fight but it feels pretty pointless to be facing this level of opposition. As Chisora said in a pretty funny ifl interview recently, Whyte is being treated like the ****y spare wheel by Matchroom at the moment.

Dillian Whyte (20-1) will fight Malcom Tann (24-5) the 19th according to Boxrec, this was also mentioned by Hearn in his recent interview.

It's sure better then then digging up the corpse of Grant, but viewing his resume tells he lost every time he stepped up in competition and surely is a paid looser in this 12 day notice fight to build up Whyte.

For a late notice scrub, not a terrible fight. Tann 10 or 15 years ago would have been a decent, top 30-40ish win.

Hahaha. Whyte bags Joseph Parker for not fighting anyone decent, now he's fighting a guy who has had 3 fights in 10 years... lost two of them by KO and one of those losses were against a guy who Parker knocked out in the 1st round last year.

Pretty sure Lucas Browne has been calling out Dillian Whyte for ages, I reckon that would probably be one of the most interesting fights for Dillian Whyte AND Lucas Browne - if they both really believe everyone else are avoiding them then surely it'd not be hard to make.

 

What other type fight do you expect in less than month away? Come'on now lets think clearly here.....no one decent is going to take a whyte fight on such short notice.A craftier Grant would have been the better fight really,bc one more loss and hes probably done.

 

Why do you then book a date without an opponent?

I don't see the point of this fight, and why in America? But if it's as a fight to shake of the rust and be back again this autumn (perferably against Chisora) I have no problem with this.

He was trying to get one for U.S debut.He had Grant but ppl complained.,now its even less notice so really whos going to fight Whyte and risk an L? ..its not about getting a good opponet at this point as it staying active/busy for Whyte.

 

I agree. I only said what I said because Joe Parker's profile went down heaps when he had to find an opponent around a week or so out after Fury pulled out and Dillian Whyte was one of the most vocal haters for that whole thing - and the guy Team Parker found to fight in that time would murder the dude Whyte is about to go up against.

 

Parkers a champion though.No champion should be fighting guys like he did his last fight....not even wilder,even if its a stay busy fight. lol

what will help though is it actually does help him somewhat witha H.Fury LIKE fighter in terms of body type.It was his sparring partner for hughie.....

 

It wasn't so much a stay busy fight as a "We've paid >$1,000,000 for this event, sold tickets and and Parker is all ready to fight but Fury dropped nuts so what can we do?" thing.

This is Dillian Whyte deciding to crack the US market and they've been talking about this coming up for a while, the fact that an opponent was needed wasn't just randomly sprung on them at the last moment.

The "Hearn playing the long game" conspiracy theory view I can see is that they have actually got some traction with planning a fight with Big Baby in Nov and this IS just a safe easy fight to get a little mileage in the US to make a fight with Miller more meaningful to the yanks. Miller would have to be the A-side in that fight, but he doesn't have a big profile in the UK - if Miller beats Whyte like he probably should then it raises Miller's profile in the UK for a future fight with Joshua which would get US *and* UK fans buzzing.

If Whyte DOES win that then Hearn will then sacrifice his Whyte pawn to Wilder to see how dangerous Wilder really is, they either get his belt without having to risk the AJ legacy - OR again, further raise a US fighter's profile in the UK to build up a fight with Joshua eventually.

Regardless, we need more big fights across the UK and US etc so I hope some variation of this stuff happens. Fingers crossed Parker also beats Fury because that'd probably be a more interesting international mix up.
