2007 Ring had Cotto p4p #7 and the #1 contender to Mayweather's Welterweight title. 2008 Cotto is #8 p4p and the number 2 guy at welterweight behind Margarito with Mayweather retired. 2009 he's number 7 p4p and behind May/Pac and Mosley at Welter. 2011 he's at the top of the junior middleweight rankings. 2014 he's listed as Middleweight champion above Golovkin.

Alright, I thought you considered him the best right now and thought he would spank Lomachenko if they fought. If I got that wrong, then I'm sorry for misrepresenting your position.

You said Cotto was never the number #1 guy in his division. I was trying to illustrate that he was very close several times, and according to Ring was the Guy at middleweight in 2014. The p4p points was just to illustrate that there were times in the late 2000s when people thought as highly of Cotto as they now do of Garcia.

no, i dont consider him the best right now nor do i consider him a lock for #1 in the future. i do think he can stay in the top 3 for the next 5 years, same as loma. yes, i do think he beats loma, in a very cerebral and competitive fight where both have trouble and success, but ultimately the good big man wins.

Another fighter the entire sport will do an end run around until he shows signs of slippage just like GGG and what is being done to Beterbiev right now as well.

i see. the fact that cotto would probably have never won a belt anywhere, if there was only one champion per division, has never been lost on me.

Is it me or has the hype for Loma grown even greater with another feasting of no hopers?

Mikey is much more skilled than Cotto and Bradley and also has superior power. 140 Cotto was a head wobbler but he could still get caught as in the Torres fight. Bradley punched a lot but lacked power. I don't quite see Mikey at the level of Pac, but if that is what he aspires to he better put his foot on the gas and get some fights. Start by cleaning out 135. If he can beat Loma, great but if he can't, move up and beat Crawford. If he can do that, then take out Thurman and Spence at 147. If he could do that he'd be near Pac. I discredit Mayweather because he avoided proving how good he was, by ducking post-Corrales. It would be like Mikey getting titles on the way to 154 without fighting Loma, Crawford, Spence, Thurman and Alvarez.

Ignore anyone who believes either of:
    1. Loma is bad for boxing. They have an agenda.
    2. Salido's win over Loma means anything. Anyone who does is obviously a Mexicant - someone who can't believe anything except that their Mexican warriors are the greatest, toughest, strongest, etc

Right now during the rise of Loma, Mikey's black fans bandwagon can even outnumber his Mexican fanbase.

It's a very dangerous fight for both of them. Garcia's size, power, precision and great fundamentals vs Loma's athleticism, speed, footwork, angles and supernatural wizardry. Great match up.
