HBO pays more but they have a limited amount of fight dates. A dwindling budget and a yearly decline in ratings.

Bob has been displeased with HBO for years now and ESPN offers a stronger platform to build stars.
Pac-Horn was a massive success. Loma-Marriaga was the opposite(broadcast delays and channel changes)

Pac/Horn did good numbers because Pac is internationally famous. Casuals don't know or give a **** about Loma or Crawford. I hope Crawford/Indongo does 1.5m, but I have my doubts.

The problem is not Lomo's talent. The problem is not if he's entertaining. He's both!

The real problem here is economics/viewership demographics. Lomo is he's not in demand for boxing fans who typically watch below the lightweight division, but he really should be.

If he was born the USA, Latin American, or East Asia, his following from the fans who watch his weight class would be through the roof!

Call it what you will, he's going to need an opponent from the above demographics with a shot to beat him to draw big numbers.

And Top Rank of course has proven utterly incapable of being anything more than a TV booker promoter for anyone that lacks readily exploitable ethnic ties.

No kidding Loma did horrible numbers FFS every day the news in this country brain washes it's dumb citizens on how Russia stole their election and all it's athletes are doped up state sponsored science experiments.

I know Ukraine is not Russia but muricans do not know the difference.

I do not even care about his numbers or that he is not nor ever will be a star. If Muricans think you are a star than something is probably seriously wrong with you.

Not that good especially while being on ESPN which is basically free. The level of opponent has something to do with it I'm sure.

I see Crawford/Indogo doing similar numbers to what Lomachenko/Marriaga did.

Unfortunately, people around the world only care about the glory boys and heavyweights...
A real shame, because the talent that Crawford and Lomachenko have is levels above many of the other divisions best.

Once Crawford and Loma move up in weight and put beatings on people, their names will be known.

But millions will tune into Mayweather humiliate a sparring partner this month.
    **** is messed up mane.

I love watching Lomachenko box, but let's be honest: we'd be on here slaughtering Wilder if he fought a guy he was 1/100 to beat and drew that number of views for the fight.

How much did the NFL Hall of Fame ceremony affect that figure, if at all?

to the boxing casual, a fight against the marriagas of the sport wont draw much interest. but put him in against a rigo or a mikey and they will tune in. hes got the hype behind him already, now give him an opponent that can validate the hype.

Wilder gets poor ratings in primetime on network TV, that despite being an American HW "champion".

Trust me, it's due to marketing more than anything. Loma has the goods. Easily one of the most exciting boxers in the sport.
