Did Foreman fight his best fight against Ali?

Foreman was at his best. No doubt about it. He just didn't know what to do while he was facing Ali's tactic (rope a dope). Another factor was Foreman was exhausted when the fight went on.

 

Foreman was at his best against Holyfield. Unfortunatly for him he was up against a overly quicker fighter with a chin who could counter punch effectively with combinations that kept foreman minimized of winning without a K.o. It was an opponent he had never encountered before,one that was able to stay in his face with technical skill and use lateral movement effectively in the middle of the ring in spots while making foreman work hard the entire fight to keep him off.

Foreman of 74 would not be able to take such shots from Holyfield over a course of 12 rnds,and Holyfiled would have had a field day with wild wide arm shot foreman who wasted energy.Anyone stating Foreman fought his best fight in 74 didnt actually watch that fight bc it was anything but a smart fight he fought . lol


Foreman trained harder and was better skilled in his comeback also stronger where is the proof 70's foreman was better? He gives Ali a better fight and its not even in question for me. Unless you reinvent 70's foreman who was also knocked down by jimmy Young( do you think that guy can knock 90's foreman down?) than you can change the answer here.Not even Angelo Dundee thought 70's Foreman was better or Foreman former trainers Clancy and Archie Moore thought that prior to the Holyfield fight.

Physically, without a doubt. Mentally, most definitely not.

 

Foreman was an offensive machine and threw punches in bunches and we're talking HARD punches. Despite what many say, Foreman still had good boxing skill even at that time, he was trained by Saddler, but didn't box much because he didn't really need to when he was blasting everyone out of the ring. An aggressive heavyweight is trouble for anyone in any era. Ali picked his brain apart and then took him physically apart. Foreman was never the same seek and destroy type fighter again. He still had power, obviously, but he hesitated alot more.

 

George Foremen couldn't beat Ali in 10 fights, it's just that some people have your number. George couldn't KO Ali and he couldn't outbox him, he sure didn't have the stamina to go 15 so its not arguable.

Foreman was outsmarted by Ali. Could George have won if he'd fought a smarter fight? We will never know.

 

Foreman threw way too many punches against the rope-a-dope, ran out of gas, but Ali said he could barely hold on, thought he would get stopped if the fight had gone on much longer.
