I give credit where credit is due and don't permit hero worship or a mythological aggrandizement of any athlete to unrealisticakly ridiculous godlike levels to interfere with my objectivity. Once you elevate anyone to that level he can do no wrong and whatever he does wrong is explained away in some form so that his godlike status remains intact. I have seen that done countless times and it has resulted in denying a boxer a legitimate win over the idolized one such as occurred with Ken Norton against Ali.

    On and on it went:

If Ali clinched or didn't punch while getting pummeled he was described playing with the opponent.
If Ali finally decided to fire back after losing 11 rounds he was showing who was really in control and was given the decision.

The same is being done with Floyd. If he gets caught flush, its cuz he wants to. If he doesn't attack, it cuz he's playing. Sorry but I don't buy that.

The fact a novice went 10 rounds with an ATG is the real issue. Did not think it would go that far to be honest.

Yes, suddenly floyd, one of the best footwork in boxing history, doesnt know even how to cut the ring, and follows connor in straight line for 7-8 rounds, isnt it?

I can win a lot, and I mean A LOT of rounds, vs mayweather if he doesnt punch me and give them all to me for free.

I know amateurs, more than one amateur I mean, than can destroy mcgregor in the ring. This guy is a joke, and he made just until floyd wanted him to make. Not a round more.

Floyd didnt hit, didnt counter, didnt cut the ring for nearly 8 rounds. For 6 rounds he did literally NOTHING.

An connor's power is laughable at best, it was pathetic to watch him armpunchinig nonstop, he remembered me to my little cat scratching my ankles when he was trying to play. Kind of cute in a cat, kind of sad in a fighter.

Yeah you are not wrong, always happens with Floyd. As far as I'm concerned he was in full control of that fight last night from start to finish. People always misread the 1st couple rounds of a Floyd fight. He allows his opposition as much success as he is willing to let them have.

    This.
I'm shocked that people are running to excuses for Conor's success.

I believe Floyd did come for a fight - he should come for a fight and toy a 0-0 novice, but damn, he sucks at fighting.

The big drama show is a few weeks off yet, that's the one I'm excited about not last nights bollox.

Although I don't think last night did anybody any harm neither boxing or mma are any the worse for it. All we learnt is that a boxing style in the UFC is boxing style, it's not boxing

I don't expect Floyd to fight again but won't be surprised if McGregor gets another boxing "fight" and Floyd being involved in the promotion.
I'm sure that's all part of the plan and the deal.
There will be more events like this. The sad truth is people actually paid to see it and that condones the whole thing. The Nevada boxing commission sanctioned it. The WBC went along with the pantomime by providing Floyd with a belt. Broadcasters have made money.

People actually bought this rubbish and it's been marketed and legitimized as a real boxing contest.

    Boxing is already a joke.
If Mayweather is the premier representative of boxing, and his career is what other upcoming boxers are aspiring to, it's a joke.

Good for boxing but nothing crazy. I think it was a good fight and people who don't normally watch boxing enjoyed the show.

It's not uncommon for a fighter to suddenly seem as if he's aged overnight and fight in a totally different inefficient manner. However, I don't think that was the reason for his hesitation. To me Floyds inactivity or inability to capitalize simply indicated that he had not been able to figure Connors out yet. Nothing unusual since it usually took him four or five rounds against certain fighters to figure them out when he was younger as well. It's simply part of his overcautious nature. Strange that you attempt to give the impression that he had never done that before against other opposition such as Zab Judah.

Yeah that's how I saw it. He was never in any trouble or showed any signs of distress. He was smiling, winking at the commentators in those early rounds he lost. He kept his hands up early on, like he is prone to do against southpaws, he just shelled up and had a good look at McGregor. That's all he was doing, Conor won those rounds because Mayweather basically was in sparring/reconnaissance mode and was outworked.

Once he decided he was ready to fight we saw a totally different approach. It was like night and day, it's like he flicked a switch and then was all over McGregor. Walking him down, strafing him with right hands, bossing him on inside where Conor has no clue how to fight.

Not me. Conor tried his hardest but Floyd dictated every single minute of that fight and as far as he was concerned turned it into an exhibition against someone way out of their depth
