The list of great fights this year is absolutely amazing. Being able to watch guys like Loma and Crawford on free tv is also great. Remember we also got Garcia/Thurman on free tv too. All did very well in the ratings so the the interest is there. I think the worst thing that can happen to boxing is and i hat to say it but GGG koing Canelo is going to hurt boxing in the long run. GGG will never be a big star here in the states and hes already 35 years old and on the downside of his career.
What boxing needs is for Deontay Wilder to KO Ortiz in a great televised fight in prime time and advertise an upcoming Joshua fight and try to build the hype with the audience of one of these two guys Wilder/Ortiz can face the big undefeated ko artist. If DW can win by ko in an exciting prime time tv fight it could generate a lot of interest. America loves its heavyweights and they love a ko. Of course im not saying this will revive the sport and put it on the back pages but it would really, really help.

Most definatly this. The sport is corrupt at every single level and the guys at the top with the power to change it are the most corrupt of all. At fans level we are given uneven and unfair fights that dont give out excitment and at times leaves the fans with nothing more than a bad taste in thier mouths and a feeling of being ripped off somewhere. There are exciting match ups to be made at every weight yet it seems harder and harder to even make these fights.

People can point out that there are actually exciting match ups where we cant all easily predict the winner pre fight but on the big stage these are few and far between. Other mainstream sports give us these exciting match ups weekly, in these other main stream sports you cant get the recognition until you have beaten the other top competitors, the sports are designed so the best have to face the best. In Boxing that could take years, too long or sometimes not at all. In a Soccer season the best teams have to play each other twice if they even want the chance to win the league. We dont even know if a fight like Joshua vs Wilder will even ever happen. Crazy.

I think there is enough interest in boxing, The southern city I live in , not exactly a boxing hot bed has 4 title boxing gyms. The free television fights are viewed in the millions. I dont think its a lack of interest , people enjoy contact physical sports.

I think its consistency problem related to free television, for instance if you like wrestling like a friend of mine does he tunes into that fake crap religiously, why because at 7pm every friday its guaranteed to be on. same with mma they are on fox and constantly advertsing bouts. Football saturaday at 3pm youre bet youre getting the best game in the country.

boxing premiere boxing may have a bout in a couple of weeks, espn friday night boxing , well its not every friday, cbs sports boxing well it may be televised or not. If boxing is not constant, consistent, and reliable the viewers and fans wont be.

The real problem with boxing is the corrupt judges, referee, boxing commissions.....................everyone knows that boxing is corrupt! I think Golovkin will knock El Pollo out, but make no mistake about it, Oscar owns the judges, referee, boxing commission, Golovkin gets only 30% of the money, El Pollo gets 70%, yet Golovkin is the champion....................El Pollo does not have to take drug tests, but Golovkin does, Golovkin can't weigh more than 170 lbs. the night of the fight, yet El Pollo can weigh as much as he wants, probably around 180 - 190. The referee will be protecting El Pollo the entire fight, Golovkin will have to knock him out to get a draw and that is an understatement. This should be illegal. El Pollo will be allowed to break the rules, hit low, head butt, elbow, hold, wrestle anything he wants, not rules for El Pollo. Tony Weeks and Bob Bennett has made testicle blows legal in boxing as long as it is their bosses' fighter who is doing the fouling..................watch and see.................

    Boxing is dead (in America).
Again, it died with Tyson's prime.

People at work saw an American on the undercard named Gervonta Davis and they were like "OMG, undefeated American with lots of KO's, put him on PPV". LMAO you turds he'd get demolished by Lomachenko, he's not even close to an elite fighter yet. They don't even know who Loma is. Not to mention he missed weight.

Yes I had people tell me what does it mean to "Lomachenko" and it was depressing AF given the context of all this blowing of Davis.

True, the context would seem to make that kind of question totally unnecessary. When that happens it's extremely hard not to strongly suspect some type of congenital mental deficiency. After all, how does any normal person even imagine such a thing as being some process or dance if he understands plainly spoken or written English? Of course that assumes that the blokes weren't joking.

    BTW
I would have invented some ridiculous dance steps on the spot and given them a demonstration of how the Lomachenko is done. You know, like the sopng says. Let's do the Twist! Or the Huckle Buck.

In actual fact Emmanuel Augustus could have been a champion if he'd taken himself seriously. Had proper manager & trainer etc Take away the fights he was blatantly robbed in. The fights he took at short notice in the other guys backyards. His motto was "I'll fight anyone anywhere just give me time to get there" He was a showman , always gave the crowd a good show, In my humble opibion he should be in the HOF He is what the great sport of boxing was all about

So he cooperated in ruining his own career by staying with the wrong managers or was he going against their advice?

Boxing is just underwhelming. The fact that McGregor had that much success against Mayweather even though Mayweather was trying to make the fight, was just awful. I'm never watching a B grade boxer fight again.
P4P or borderline P4P only - best of the best and people who are genuine A to A+ graders - no A minus fighters.
No time for the likes of Santa Cruz's, Frampton's, Charlo's, Danny Garcia's, Amir Khan's etc. - I just don't care anymore.

I can't stand any opinion from a smug boxing fan laughing about the outcome of the Conor-Floyd fight.
People are making light of Conor's power...Conor's power punches are best selected when there's a larger, more difficult sphere of potential attacks to deal with. An MMA fighter can be attacked from numerous methods and angles.

He didnt have a manager as such he fought for the $$$ & because he loved it/
He didn't seem to realize how good he was. Even Floyd stated that Augustus gave him one of his hardest fights
