If you didn't see a guy in the flesh you should have no comment...that's like saying,'Your a college history professor...but you can't be an expert on Abe Lincoln because you didn't live in in 1865...this is all opinion folks!!!!

I have no disdain for Rocky Marciano he was a great fighter,a fine champion and hell of a man.

I have disdain for you though because you are an immature little wimp who cannot ever be corrected or admit he is wrong.

I've never accused Turner of being a liar I've simply questioned whether he ever saw Marciano fight in the flesh and I still do,I think he was speaking in general terms,and that you jumped on it in your silly little fan boy way to try and big up Rocky.
Now that the dates of Turner's birth and his birthplace don't add up chronologically with Marciano's career its come back to bite you in your hero worshipping a*se!
It's beyond funny watching you flail around trying to deflect the pointed arrows of common sense and facts that are coming at you from all directions!

If you didn't see a guy in the flesh you are perfectly entitled to your opinion ,with the proviso that it has no cachet of added weight because you simply have the same knowledge of a fighter as any other boxing aficionado has ie access to video and books.

 

Marciano was 185lbs. There is zero part of me that believes he hit harder than Foreman, Shavers, Tyson, Ibeabuchi, Wlad and others....

 

Prediction: By and large, only (some) posters who were already hardcore Marciano admirers will consider the video to be of "immense value."

No he didn't I highly doubt he ever saw Marciano fight in the flesh ask him outright when and where he did ? If he saw Charles in the flesh it is almost certain it was in1955 when he had his last two fights in Cincinnatti ,Turner was then 16 years old and Charles was well past it. There is no mention of Turner in either of the Klitschkos cv's you don't know what the f*ck you are talking about!

During the heavyweight championship bout, Holyfield suffered a cut above his left eye which kept reopening during the match, affecting his vision. The lack of a cutman is thought to have been a determining factor that cost Holyfield the match"

LAS VEGAS, Nev.— For want of a $25,000 cut man, maybe the world heavyweight championship was lost.

With blood still dripping from above his left eye, Evander Holyfield agreed that the cut had been a "big factor" in being dethroned as the two-thirds heavyweight champion by Michael Moorer last night in a majority 12-round decision.

"It," he said of the blood, "kept getting in my eyes."

Sliced by one of Moorer's right hands in the fifth round, the cut reopened in each round thereafter as Moorer, emerging as the first lefthanded heavyweight champion, inserted a new punch into boxing's vocabulary: the right jab.

"I just kept him off with my jab," Moorer said.

The right jab opened Holyfield's cut and reopened the debate on the value of the "cut man," Ace Marotta, dismissed by the now ex-champion in order to save his $25,000 fee. Don Turner, hired by Holyfield as his new trainer, was unable to close the cut that Moorer kept reopening. But Holyfield defended his decision to fire Marotta.

"I did what I had to do," Holyfield said.

So did Moorer, who dominated the tempo throughout except for a second-round knockdown when Holyfield landed a right-left combination. All those right jabs convinced two judges. Chuck Giampa had Moorer ahead, 116-112; Jerry Roth had him ahead, 115-114. The third judge, Dalby Shirley, scored it a draw, 114-114.

On my card Moorer was ahead, 115-114, in points and 7- 5 in rounds. But he won decisively, patiently measuring the wobbly Holyfield during the last few rounds.

Holyfield later was hospitalized for a torn rotator cuff in his left shoulder, presumably suffered during the bout. But this fight will be remembered for the cutman who wasn't there, Ace Marotta.

Turner had minimized Marotta's value, calling a cut specialist such as Marotta "the biggest scam in boxing." Marotta disagreed.

"Don't ever say to me 'My fighter doesn't cut,"' said Marotta, who worked John John Molina's corner. "All fighters cut."

Turner's wisdom as a trainer also must be questioned. Moments after the bell rang for the first round, Pernell Whitaker, the World Boxing Council welterweight champion, was shouting to Holyfield, his longtime pal from the 1984 United States Olympic team.

"Move to the right, throw the right hand," Whitaker was yelling. "Move to the right, throw the right hand."

Whitaker should know. As a lefthanded boxer, he should know what to do against a lefthanded opponent. But instead of throwing his right hand and instead of moving to his right, Holyfield kept backing up, making it easier for Moorer to land that right jab.

Moorer remained undefeated with a 35-0 record that includes 30 knockouts. Holyfield is now 32-2 with 22 knockouts.

Moorer credited his new trainer, Teddy Atlas, a disciple of the late Cus D'Amato, for the discipline that resulted in the title.

"He pushed me," Moorer said. "I like a person like that. He was supposed to push me. He told me, 'Push it for your son."

When did he work with them? For which fights ? Do you see his name listed with other trainers alongside their names?

Turner said Marciano could whip both the Klits at the same time ,that one punch from him would be enough to ko them ,do you believe that ,because he said it!

Face it Son, you've had your a*se ripped out here!

And anyone who watches Don Turner interviews in depth knows that Turner is biased in favor of the old school fighters he heard about during his youth and against even the best recent fighters. He's like a caricature. In the bizarro world of Don Turner interviews, the idea that Marco Antonio Barrera or Roman Gonzalez are good fighters is laughable, and p4p champions like them pale in comparison to men like Harold Dade. The fight would be over the first time Marciano lands on Wlad K. Size doesn't matter, padwork is pointless, etc. etc. (and some of his claims concerning Marciano wouldn't pass a fact check either). Not sure what he's like in the gym, but he's clearly a ****-talking character in these interviews.
