No way Lewison will win, even if he can he won't do it on purpose. He's a journeyman out there to teach Joyce a thing or two.

In boxing business terms it makes absolutely no sense that Lewison wins.

It is what it is but boxing is a business and prospects during early part of their career are going to win.

 

I would disagree. Lewison before his last fight against Whyte had got himself up to a top 15 ranking, which means he could have been picked out as a soft voluntary. If he manages to beat Joyce, he likely puts himself up there again. This fight in a way could put him right in the mix of getting a decent payday.

 

I can see what your saying & you are right boxing is a business but this fight isn't exactly anything to write home about

And I doubt the masses are interested in Joyce turning over

Can hardly see this fight being "fixed" or Lewison just coasting it while teaching Joyce a lesson or 2 for business sake

Dubois has been mullering easy fighters and big KOs usually reel casuals in like AJs did but the casuals don't even know who Dubois is , most non boxing heads won't know who Joyce is , he'll have that Olympic exp going into his fights which I'm sure they'll sell but I don't think he's important enough to carry for business sake

 

Joyce left it far too late to turn professional.

Having said that, this will work out well for us seeing entertaining fights at HW because it means they cannot bring him along slowly.

He needs to be matched and ranked to fight for a European title for example by around 10-12 fights if he hopes to be able to rise to European level and then world level. That's 3 years and 10-12 fights!

 

He huge difference is Daniel is 19 and got so much time to develop as a boxer and physically, whereas joe is 31 and will proberbly be fasttracked.
The fight is a 10 rounder so has joe can fight for some form of title in 2-3-4 fights time, it's a kind of no win situation here, if joe wins in 2 round they'll it was expected, if he labours to a late stoppage or points won they'll he's not good enough

Great fight, Joyce needs to step up quick. If he goes the traditional route he won't get that Joshua payday till he's 40

 

Joyce strikes me as the next Audley minus the gold medal.

 

I don't think many (if any) people out there would seriously expect Joyce to beat Lewison in 2 rounds Billy.

This is a tough fight, which would arguably set him up for a British title fight in his second or third fight if he comes through. He has set himself a high bar in a way, since he can't really go back down in terms of opponent if he wins this can he?

 

Joyce's career could be short, but it will be fun. Bags of stamina and a come forward style. If he has a chin, his pressure fighting could be hard to deal with.

 

Has Gary Cornish ever sparred him Billy?

Could be a match there in the not too distant future if Cornish beats Sexton and retains it while Joyce is coming through.
