Fighters you were all wrong about...

I thought Wladimir Klitschko was going nowhere after the Brewster defeat.

 

I saw most of Lloyd Honeyghan's early fights from ringside,I never thought he would go beyond domestic/Euro level!

 

Edwin Rosario - Like many i thought he might be the second coming of Roberto Duran. Early on he showed enormous power, excellent hand speed and good boxing and defensive skills. He fell in love with his power a bit and neglected some of those skills. He also froze a bit when hurt at times. Anyway he ended up having an excellent career vs a great one and was somewhat inconsistent. I do think however he might be the hardest hitting lightweight i've ever seen and was a very exciting fighter. Fell well short of expectations tho.

Howard Davis Jr - Won the outstanding boxer of the 1976 Olympic Games ahead of guys like SRL, John Tate and the Spinks brothers. Fastest fighter of his era until Camacho came along. Around the Greg Coverson bout Davis committed to moving a bit less and punching with more authority. He went oh so close against my other favourite Edwin Rosario but came up just short. Put in a stinker in his first title attempt against the respectable Jim Watt. Never remotely went close to expectations.

 

I was never a big fan of Calzaghe so l keep waiting for him to lose. He never did. In hindsight l should have appreciated him more.

I also thought David Price was going to be the next best thing, and thought Fury was a KO waiting to happen. I'm pleased to say I picked Fury to beat Wlad though, and I hold Wlad in high esteem.

Chris Eubank. I thought Benn would blast him out, and he would vanish, never to be seen again!

 

Ricardo Williams Jr.

 

Roy Jones Jr. He was deeply disturbed by what happened to his
friend McCellan damaged suffered against Benn and said he it
would never happen to him and he would go out on his own terms.
Sadly 22 years later he still fighting and chasing past glories and
showing terms of irreversible damage.

 

Dominic Guinn impressed me in a couple of fights and I thought he was on his way to contender-hood, but instead he careened quickly into journeyman land.

 

I agree with Garcia, then when I thought he is really good he doesn't do anything and sort of blows his whole career with inactivity. I don't get it.

 

Roy feels he has something left to prove.. Hearns did too. Sometimes guys who lost at times they think they shouldn't have keep fighting to prove something.

 

Here's a name not mentioned often--- Mohammad Abdalluev. I thought the guy was going to be a long reigning champ. Big amateur background and everything. But he sure looked bad after that first defeat of his. Some guys do that and never do rebound. I thought he'd even be a rebounding type fighter but that was wrong too.

 

I thought Zab Judah was going to have a better career.

Pacquiao surprised me many times. I didn't think he would beat Barrera in 2003 and I thought he would have a short stay at the elite level.

I expected more out of Panchito Bojado.
