Idk, its kinda hard to pick. Tunney had great distance management and would not be in any hurry to engage Tyson of course. Tyson had slower feet than Dempsey so that comes into account.

Tunney by UD but Tyson could catch him for sure. Never saw Tunney in there with prime Dempsey so its very hard to say how Tunney would do with Tyson's fast starting style. Tunney could handle swarmers from awkward angles so I honestly don't think Tyson's pressure plays too big of a factor here.

Tyson flourished against big slow heavies. That which Tunney is not.

TO have a shot of beating prime Tyson you needed size, speed, a monster chin and some heavyweight power .. I love Tunny as a cruiser but I don't see him keeping Mike off him for long at all ..

Tyson by KO1, he was absolutely lethal against smaller guys who couldnt punch. Spinks, Ratliff, Marvis Frazier, Lorenzo Boyd all come to mind.

Swarmers who have tremendous power like Tyson and Frazier are usually a terrible match up for 180-190 pound fighters as they usually simply walk straight through them.

I can't see how a small, light handed guy like Gene Tunney can do anything at all with a fighter like Tyson.
