Sauerland have a weird signing policy where they will usually sign poor German and Scandanavian fighters ratherthan top Eastern European amateurs etc.

They've signed loads of Heavyweights in recent years and desperately tried to make them world champions, and they've all failed/not been good enough.

With Hrgovic though, they have a diamond, Surely they wouldn't mess up with him.

Yeah, haha. But he had excessive weight on him, so he needed to lose that. Early October is the latest date for his pro debut.

Most of the training he will do in Croatia but he will go to Germany for better sparring partners.

    Filip Hrgovic update:

CROATIAN boxer Filip Hrgovic will likely make his debut on 30 September.

Although for now there is no official confirmation of this information, well-informed boxing portals write that our glittering boxer, who celebrated the victory of European gold and Olympic bronze, should debut at the events in the capital of Latvia - Riga in one of the introductory duo events lead by Mairis Briedis and Mike Perez. Debi should have been on September 30, or in ten days.

Hrgovic's professional career is allegedly led by the famous boxing German team Sauerland, but they did not want to comment on this information as well as information on the debut of the Croatian boxer.

On September 9th, Filip posted a photo from Zagreb Airport on his Instagram profile with a short commentary on "Doviđenja Zagreb". A team that does not believe in retreat! ". He has reportedly spent some days in the German boxing camp, preparing himself for professional debut.

Hrgovic in action has not seen since last summer and conquered bronze medal at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. After that success, he rose to his longtime coach and also to the Croatian menu - Leonard Pijetrajem.

This Saturday, the Croatian bronze medalist will be contesting his professional debut as part of the WBSS bout Briedis vs. Perez in Riga

It has been rumoured for some time that the Croatian bronze medal winner of Rio de Janeiro has signed a professional contract at Sauerland Event. Strangely enough, neither Kalle Sauerland nor the Sauerland team's press has been confirmed on demand and there is still no press release to date. However, as several foreign boxing media (boxingnews24.com and others) are reported, Hrgovic, who is considered to be one of the greatest heavyweight talents in the world, is to take part in the World Boxing Super Series tournament next Saturday, September 30th in Riga Mairis Briedis vs. Mike Perez) have already made an 8-round battle against the unbeaten Belgian Ali Baghouz in 11 matches.

Filip Hrgovic won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro with a final victory over Tony Yoka, France (7: 4 victory) with just 18 years in the year 2010, the junior super-heavyweight champion (over 91 kg) among the amateurs. At the European Championships in 2015, Hrgovic won the gold medal with a finals victory over Florian Schulz, Germany, (3-0).

Hrgovic boxed from the beginning of the World Series of Boxing (WBS) in this series. In the first season, he boxed for Paris United. In the next season, Hrgovic started for the Milano Thunder. In the 2013 season, he started for the Astana Arlans. In the 2015 season, Hrgović was used in all seven fights of the group stage and won all his battles. He took first place in the world ranking list of his weight class this season and qualified for the 2016 Olympics.

Filip Hrgovic was repeatedly compelled by Wladimir Klitschko as a sparring partner and was also sparring partner of David Haye, which he injured in the sparring so hard in the eye the upcoming fight had failed.

Hrgovic has been boxing for years in the world's top boxing amateur boxing and is just a dream of every promoter with just 25 years. The Croatian will be knocking at the top of the world after just 10 matches in just two years. One can only congratulate Kalle Sauerland on the obligation of this exceptional boxer.

Hope he does not sign with Sauerlands. Why someone would want a promoter who makes you do random year around PED testing is beyond me?
