I'd pick Oleksander Usyk to beat Max Schmeling

And that guy who was seizing on the ground, probably.

    Not to mention Szpilka...

The fan in me is excited.
And a part of me knows he has a chance.

But the brass tracks side of me that needs to make hard predictions says he gets ruined.

Seriously in terms of today, probably not many.

But serious in terms of defeating CW sized opposition, more than I expected!

Which is exactly why this is great, we won't have to guess we will see how it plays out.

Szpilka, one of five unranked opponents that Wilder took on since taking the strap from his only ranked opponent, Stiverne, who was sick, supposedly.

I hate seeing that. Hate it. There have been ranked guys who would have been easy marks in that time. He can't even be bothered to fight the guys who are easy to beat who have earned a shot! Just keeps doing what the XBF tell him to do, pathetic stuff really. They rank these guys, of course.

So Usyk in his tiny career has already taken more ranked guys than Wilder. It makes me sad is all. I can't take that too seriously.

So yeah, the guys who he beat take him seriously, but I don't take all that too seriously myself, relative to his status.

It's Ovah and Seamus like this.

    That's a fair criticism.
To me it's obvious that he's about to fight the best opposition the next few years. Isn't he taking on Ortiz next?

That would be good. I'll believe it when I see it myself. I guess he'd earn his ranking then, but TBRB and Ring both have him at #3. Based upon ONE ranked opponent.

Max murders him. Chump only has 13 fights.

I think they were feigning interest in the Ortiz fight to try to pressure Anthony Joshua to give them a fight. I'd be surprised if Wilder's team follows through and puts him in the ring with Ortiz any time soon.

Neither fighter was very impressive. Huck had no clue how to fight a southpaw.

Bredis whitewashed Huck in similar fashion; and also starched Charr at heavyweight with one shot. People should not be sleeping on him at all.

Usyk looks good. Very good. However, I think his relatively basic and predictable style would be his downfall here. IMO what made Schmeling great was that as an opponent you never knew what was gonna come, he would feint and feint and when you expect another feint you were hit with a punch, he was great at drawing your attention to one hand and then hitting you with the other. Usyk would have his moments but Max would confuse the hell out of him and beat him comfortably. For now. Curious how he's gonna develop.

I really like Breidis atm, Gassiev too. Quite a few good upcoming cws around these days. My guess is a few will move up to hw and maybe we see a different era to the 90s and 2000s.

When's the last time you were impressed by a fighter?
