what a brawl this would be! i like both guys, but duran by decision or ko if 15 rounds for me. duran was just to strong, powerful and skilled not to mention underrated defensively than jcc. not to mention jcc being a come forward fighter is taylor made for duran.

Style wise, Julio would be tailor made for Roberto. Quick boxers with lively legs always gave Duran trouble , but Chavez would wade right into Durans web.The fight would go the distance, but Robertos superior technical skills would prevail.

This would be a great fight! I don't hardly ever hear anyone talk about this match-up. You always hear people talk about Duran/Whitaker or Duran/Mayweather but not Duran/Chavez. Duran UD

I have long said that duran vs chavez would be 1 of my top 3-5 imaginary atg fights.

The top 2 latino fighters & both were in their prime as lwts (duran v dejesus & jcc v rosario.)

A sd sounds about right either way & the main reason I lean towards duran is because he has the greater 1 punch power... both can in-fight & longrange box if needed, both are relentless & super tough.

Duran is naturally the bigger guy & the power could win him a decision but as strong as duran was, NOBODY even decks let alone floors prime jcc, not even prime duran.

    :good

yeah i wonderwhy no1 talks about this fight and it just popped into my head ,why it wasnt made?
most likely either promoter of the fighters didnt want it opposed to the fighters ducking each other because these 2 guys put todays boxers to shame!they would be totally OWNED! by duran or chavez, only a prime tszyu comes close imo.tszyu beat a shot chavez.

a very good reason that this fight was never made is the fact that duran left 135 in 1978, and julio started his career in 1980.

the fight could still have been made with either fighter going up or down 5 pounds like the way mayweather jumps from division to division after the big money fights and duran chavez would surely have been a mega bucks fight no?

    LOL....

The fight could not happen until 1984 Chavez weighed 130, Duran 154-160

    By 1989 Chavez weighed 140, Duran 160-168

And after that Duran weighed at least 160, while Chavez only really made it up to 147.

Post 1995 the fight would of meant nothing. So how could the fight realistically happen?
